Publisher's summary

Wall Street Journal bestselling author Ilsa Madden-Mills delivers a smart and sexy romance about a professional football hottie and the girl he’s sworn to never touch.

Homeless and heartbreakingly innocent, Giselle Riley walks into my penthouse and chaos follows.

I shouldn’t have invited the girl genius to live with me, but it’s clear she needs my help - not only for a place to lay her pretty blonde head but in finding real love, which she’s not going to get with the crazy men she picks up online.

Too bad she’s a twenty-four-year-old virgin and I’m a bad boy wide receiver. She’s off limits for a hardcore player like me - and we’re just friends.

Instead, I’m her matchmaking service, no matter how jealous it makes me when I tag along on her dates.

I can keep my self-control. Right? No way will I give in to everything inside me that dreams of a girl like her in my world.

I may be the best wide receiver in the country, but how could I hold on to a girl like her?

“You’re with Me!”

The following ratings are out of 5:
Narration: 🎙🎙🎙🎙🎙
Romance: 💋💋💋💋💋
Heat/Steam: 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Story/Plot: 📙📕📗📘📙
World building: 🌎🌏🌍🌎🌏
Character development: 👨🏻👱🏻‍♀️🧔🏻👩🏻👩🏼‍🦰

The heroine: Giselle - she is going for her PhD in theoretical physics. She is a smart girl who has focused on her studies. She had one failed relationship with a guy she stole from her sister. Though she is a nice girl who thinks of others all the time.

The Hero(es): Devon - Pro football player and I do mean player. He is not interested in being in a permanent relationship. Devon is the best friend and teammate of her sister’s new husband Jack and Jack warned all his team to stay away from Giselle.

The Story: Giselle has a history of bad birthday’s and seems to have a curse on the month of her birthday every year. On the month of her birthday this year, she is woken in the night when her apartment building is on fire. Devon happens to be in the right place at the right time and offers his place to Giselle while hers is being fixed.

There are some things that really stand out as things I really liked in this book. First was the fact that though Giselle was the evil sister who stole her sister’s man in “Not my Romeo”, it is explained in a way that we see Giselle as a good girl who is riddled with guilt over what happened and how it truly wasn’t as bad as it looked.

Another thing I liked was the fact that Giselle is a very smart girl who is studying for her PhD in Physics and that is backed up by enough talk of theoretical physics that we can tell the author did her research on the subject and backed it up in the story. I sometimes hate it when books have an intelligent woman but there really isn’t any evidence of her intelligence in the story. Ilsa Madden-Mills is great at integrating background information into the storyline in a seamless way.

As for the narration, I really liked both the female and the male narrator, my only criticism is that I didn’t like when the male narrator did the female voice. I know this is the standard way audiobooks are done, especially when the different chapters are in dual POV. The chapters told in the female POV, have the female narrator doing both male and female voices and same for the chapters in the male POV. However, I still wish that they would have the female narrator do all the female parts (even when in the male POV chapter) and vice versa.

Not My Match

Not My Match is the second book in the Game Changers series. This book could be read as a standalone, however the characters in book one do show up in this book. This book is told from Giselle and Devon. Giselle is brought up in book one as well since she is the sister of the main girl in book one, and Devon is the main guy's best friend.

This book is adorable and it had me laughing so much. I love the banter between both characters. Giselle's apartment catches fire, and she has no where to go. Devon invites her to stay with him. They start to have feelings for each other, but Jack (book one) told Devon to stay away from Giselle because she is off limits.

As the book goes on they can't stop their feelings for each other. Giselle's mom is trying to set her up, and Devon has to battle with those other guys to see if he can be everything for Giselle. When an opportunity of a lifetime comes up for Giselle, they must discover if they will end it, if they can make a long distance relationship work, or if the opportunity is really worth it.

I really enjoyed this story, and hope there will be more in the series!

Smart Girls Rule!

It's all here: the fun, the flirting, the passion, and the heartbreak. This opposites attract/best friend's sister read is stark, steamy, and wonderful.

Giselle is a physicist. She's a brainiac, a nerd, and a virgin. She also has no idea how attractive she is. Which, of course, makes her even more attractive to an alpha pro footballer like Devon. They're actually pretty good friends, each not realizing that the other cares just as much as they do. They both feel like they're a bad match. Good thing the heart wants what it wants.

These two are utterly adorable together. Their relationship is full of friendship and an easy going camaraderie that only happens when a couple starts out as friends. She thinks he's golden. He worships her. I fell in love with them both. This story had all the feelings I want to experience in a good romance. The steam practically rose from my kindle when the inevitable finally became fact. Devon is absolutely... (insert your favorite word here).

Ancillary characters in this story are equally fun and adorable. Many of these characters rolled over from a previous book, "Not My Romeo," which I highly recommend as well. But don't worry if you haven't read the first book, it won't really affect your enjoyment of this one. They can be read as stand-alones with no problem. Readers will find a fun story with lots of seriously steamy moments, adult situations, and some adult language. You'll also find an intensely satisfying story full of heart and joy. Just grab and enjoy, because these books are worth it!

A light sweet listen.

Not My Match is the second book in Ilsa’s new series; The Game Changers. This one tells the story of pro football player Devon and science geek Giselle. The first was Not My Romeo which follows Devon’s team mate, Jack and Giselle’s sister, Elena. After a fire leaves Giselle homeless she finds herself rooming with Devon in his penthouse. There is an attraction from the start but they fight it until they can’t. There are funnies and heartfelt moments, a smidge of angst but not on any level that will leave you wrecked. It’s a sweet story and just what I needed.

Two new narrators to me. I really enjoyed Summer Morton’s smooth and gentle voice. She did a great job of bringing Giselle to life. Alexander Cendese has an intense, raspy voice which suited the gruff Devon perfectly.

A great, sweet, chilled listen.

Quirky

This book is so quirky and I loved it.

I laughed, felt and just loved every bit of it.

Giselle is a super smart physicist! She’s so different from anything Ive ever read/listened to. She has BIG dreams, CERN, a book and losing her v-card! Her book though 🤣😂

Devin is a bad boy footballer. Who has serious commitment issues. He’s use to everyone leaving him and never sticking around. So he lays all his cards out for Giselle. And it is EPIC!

Ilsa never disappoints!!
