About this listen

Named the Best Thriller of 2022 by The Real Book Spy

Mitch Rapp confronts a very different kind of killer in this explosive “and entertaining from the first page to the last” (The Providence Journal) addition to Vince Flynn’s #1 New York Times bestselling series, written by Kyle Mills.

With President Anthony Cook convinced that Mitch Rapp poses a mortal threat to him, CIA Director Irene Kennedy is forced to construct a truce between the two men. The terms are simple: Rapp agrees to leave the country and stay in plain sight for as long as Cook controls the White House. In exchange, the administration agrees not to make any moves against him.

This fragile détente holds until Cook’s power-hungry security adviser convinces him that Rapp has no intention of honoring their agreement. To put him on the defensive, they leak the identity of his partner, Claudia Gould. As Rapp races to neutralize the enemies organizing against her, he discovers that a new type of assassin is on her trail.

Known only as Legion, the shadowy killer has created a business model based on double-blind secrecy. Neither the assassin nor the client knows the other’s identity. Because of this, Legion can’t be called off nor can they afford to fail. No matter how long it takes—weeks, months, years—they won’t stand down until their target is dead. Faced with the seemingly impossible task of finding and stopping Legion, Rapp and his people must close ranks against a world that has turned on them in this white-knuckled thriller filled with “plenty of action and political intrigue” (Booklist).

Do not like the reader.

Do not like the reader of this. He has a strange cadence and it’s irritating to listen to. The reader of Vince Flynns early books was much much better!!!!

“Welcome To My Wheelhouse, Tony. “

I don’t want to spoil anything. However, the line, “Welcome to my wheelhouse, Tony” is an excellent example of less is more. This book, although thrilling from the first page, was not filled with the continuous ass kicking we have grown to expect from Rapp. Instead we see a more thoughtful, while still psychologically cunning, Mitch. This book is one of my favorite books because we are allowed glimpses into the lives of not only Claudia and Rapp, but also of Scott, and Irene. I mean who knew Irene could have a personal life!!My only gripe is I have to wait another year to continue learning more about these incredible characters.
Kyle has done it again. Thank you for sharing Rapp and company with us!

It’s just ok

The story is so far fetched that it defies credulity. If I ignore that it is merely a so so read. I hope the next book is better

Kept me guessing to the end

This was a masterful story and read masterfully by George Guidell. It was a Great continuance of the Mitch Rapp series. It’s a bit violent in places for me but I always fast forward through any disturbing parts. Plenty of gunfight descriptions which I usually find a bit ponderous..,. But the the whole book and ending were very well crafted.

another ass kicker from Vince Flynn and Kyle Mills

the only downside to this novel is that we have to wait for the next one. Kyle Mills consistently delivers edge of your seat action with a healthy portion of mind bending twists and treachery. just finished and now I'm going to have to listen to the entire series again because it's just that damn good.
