Story
Amid the dizzying rides, tantalizing games of chance, and fanciful attractions of a state fair, two teenage sweethearts on the cusp of life and love's pleasures find their way to a shadowy carnival tent brimming with curiosities. There, from the bizarre and enthralling Gypsy Mummy, a mechanized merchant of dreams and prognosticator of tomorrows, the young couple learns what fate promises for them. But fate, for Odd Thomas and Stormy Llewellyn, is something altogether different: full of dark corners, sharp edges, and things no seer or soothsayer could ever anticipate.

Publisher's summary
Audie Award Nominee, Best Thriller/Suspense Category, 2013
Once presided over by a flamboyant Hollywood mogul during the Roaring ’20s, the magnificent West Coast property known as Roseland is now home to a reclusive billionaire financier and his faithful servants. And, for the moment, it’s also a port in the storm for Odd Thomas and his traveling companion, the inscrutably charming Annamaria.
In the wake of Odd’s most recent clash with lethal adversaries, the opulent manor’s comforts should be welcome. But there’s far more to Roseland than meets even the extraordinary eye of Odd, who soon suspects it may be more hell than haven.
A harrowing taste of Roseland’s terrors convinces Odd that it’s time to hit the road again. Still, the prescient Annamaria insists that they’ve been led there for a reason. Just how deep and dreadful are the mysteries Roseland and her masters have kept for nearly a century? And what consequences await whoever is brave, or mad, enough to confront the most profound breed of evil? Odd only knows. Like his acclaimed creator, the irresistible Odd Thomas is in top-notch form - as he takes on what may well be the most terrifying challenge yet in his curious career.

Story
Mad scientists have never had it so tough. In super-hero comics, graphic novels, films, TV series, video games, and even works of what may be fiction, they are besieged by those who stand against them, devoid of sympathy for their irrational, megalomaniacal impulses to rule, destroy, or otherwise dominate the world as we know it. It’s just not fair. So those of us who are so twisted and sick that we love mad scientists have created this guide.

Its ok
Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?
I would recommend this if you have read the series. But I do recommend that you read the one published after this one but takes place before.
What was your reaction to the ending? (No spoilers please!)
I would have liked a better ending there is still no answers about the girl and im not clear were its going. Almost disinterested at this point, but ill still end up getting the next to find out. Hope this helps a little.

Koontz and Odd do it again!
Would you consider the audio edition of Odd Apocalypse to be better than the print version?
YES! It's like story time in grade school. As an OTR trucker audio books keep me awake and alert and the miles just melt away.
What did you like best about this story?
The action and the parts where Odd Thomas is repeating the foul language directed at him but in his own innocent non-X rated way.
Which scene was your favorite?
There was no favorite scene really....the whole book was totally enjoyable!
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
The above mentioned swear word interpretations made me laugh out loud!
Any additional comments?
David Aaron Baker the reader has perfectly captured the character of Odd Thomas. I have a perfect picture of Odd in my head!

I love Dean Koontz Odd Thomas Novels
If you could sum up Odd Apocalypse in three words, what would they be?
This book is very well thought out and very suspenseful. There is so much action and adventure and Odd does what Odd always does. I deeply enjoyed listening to this book.
What was one of the most memorable moments of Odd Apocalypse?
The imagining of time travel and the explanations for the strange events surrounding Rosewood.
What does David Aaron Baker bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
The narrator does a fantastic job of bringing the characters to life in this audio book. He's very talented and really helps you feel like you are in the story.

Way too slow, way too hard to believe,
Odd Thomas finds himself in an estate that seems to heal itself of all defects, even falling leaves. The few people that live there as residents and staff are more then a little different from main stream society. And occasionally the estate is plagued by creatures that are far less then friendly.
This book took forever to get through. We all know we are reading fiction. But at some point it is nice to forget that for a while and get into the story. But this one pushed the limits of fiction and fantasy beyond my ability to suspend disbelief.
I made it through to the end. But unlike Odd Interlude, the ending was a bit flat. Unless the next book, "Deeply Odd" gets some really rave reviews from other readers or listeners, this one will end the series for me.

Frustrated fan
What made the experience of listening to Odd Apocalypse the most enjoyable?
The story was complex and interesting.
What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?
Dean Koontz has a killer imagination. Somehow, he manages to produce new and interesting plots. However, he spent too much time on static description of inanimate objects such as the mansion at Roseland.
Which scene was your favorite?
I enjoyed the scene when Odd had the chance to bring back his one true love.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
I was disappointed by the lack of resolution to the story involving Anna Maria.
Any additional comments?
I expected Anna Maria's secrets to be revealed, so the book was something of a disappointment.

Odd Story
Not yet understanding how he weaves all into one. But was happy when Tesla threw the final switch!

Interesting
Any additional comments?
I was sceptical, but curious about this book. After I started it, it just drew me in. I laughed, and had a fair share of eww moments. Very enjoyable, and the narrator did great. Now I want to read more.

Um, ok, maybe?
I really don't know what to make of this book. Honestly it should have had a different title because it had little to do with anything apocalyptic other than a mention here or there. Perhaps Odd Suspended in Time would have been a better title! I guess the story was ok but it jumped around quite a bit. There were several different story lines to keep up with and each one just fell short to me. I like Odd Thomas but I think it's time for him to retire!
