Loved the story, disliked the reader. Had to strain to hear parts where she talked low and seemed to mumble. Please bring back Susan Boyce to read

Good story

I liked the narrator. However I did miss Susan Boyce’s narration from the previous books.

Love this series

Did not like a different reader after the other books in this series was the same reader.

This narrator not as talented

As with the last book, I thought the story was okay. What stood out most was the change in narrators. This one has a younger voice, which I liked, but she was not able to carry off voice changes for different characters.

But the narrator SUCKS!!! Do yourself a favor &!Read The Book!!! The narrator sounds bored & more like she should be narrating a story with east coast characters, not those from
California. Completely inappropriate.

Entertaining Read

I love South Cove and always look forward to visits with Jill, Greg, and the gang. In this visit, it seems everything is "on the verge." Jill and Greg' are on the verge of marriage. Jill is on the verge of earning her MBA. Aunt Jackie is on the verge of retirement. As a result, others' lives are on the verge of change, and so on. Perhaps nothing is more surprising than the changes in Josh's life, and I admit that I am pleased with his apparent metamorphosis. In the midst of all the personal changes and challenges, there are solid mysteries to solve, including the whereabouts of missing persons and a potential lost treasure, not to mention a murder. While there were several suspects and scenarios, I had most of it pieced together by the closing chapters, but not all. Nonetheless, I enjoyed my time in South Cove and cannot wait for the next book in the series (and Jill's and Greg's wedding!).

Meh

After listening to the 15 earlier books in the series you get pretty use to the narrators voice, Susan Boyce has such a soothing voice and does good male and female character, it’s a change to hear a new voice doing familiar characters.

One disappointment was, again after 15 prior books, main character Jill slipping into some pretty dumb/irritating self-talk. best example, paraphrasing, I hung up on him, maybe he won’t want to marry me now. Oh geez it’s insulting to the intelligence of the long time reader who knows all they have gone through. Perhaps an easy out for a writer on a tough day.

Strong smart women characters do not beat themselves up with berating self-talk.

Terrible narrator

I am not sure if it was the narrative or the story, but it felt like someone else wrote the story instead of Lynn Cahoon. Plus the story didn’t flow and was more syrupy than normal.

Something Changed.........

I do miss Susan Boyce's narration, but I also wondered if Ms. Cahoon has someone who is doing part of the writing now. Some of the history of the series is changing. Josh is now just five years older than Jill, and he sounds like a completely different character. This book seems incredibly slow, the mystery lacked creativity, and the characters all seem one dimensional - and I LOVE this series. I am sad if it is changing.

good story new narrator not good

Really did not like the new narrator. Some of the characters were OK others were terrible. The voice for Greg sounded like a nerdy pervert instead of the dashing but sensitive leading male. Please bring back Susan Boyce.
