Wow!

I am on book 6 of the series and all I can say is buy this book. And all the ones after it. Love the story, love the narrator, definitely worth listening to. The story is about a regular guy thrown into an RPG ish world. Not super technical but fun and funny. I was on the fence at first but now I can't get enough.

Redemption LITRPG

Good story, i was pretty surprised by how well it was done. The start was different and a bit confusing (got more cleared up later). overall it's a redemption story of a "Bad guy" in a previous difficult situation, trying to start over in a different world. pS. main character is a bit OP.

good book

Just ignore the stupidity near the beginning and it is a pretty good book. If you like OP characters that still have things they aren't good at, the you'll love this.

A decent point to note: if you don't want your character to have certain items, then just don't give them the items in the first place. Having the character lose them to an obviously stupid decision, which is made even worse by not understanding a simple task, is irritating to me as a reader.

ok nice going

a meathead with a heart of gold our hero is not exactly the best person in the world but he wants to be he is making the active choice to be a positive influence hero and no one's browbeating him out or bribing him to do so he's just taking the personal and natural step forward to do the right thing often at his own expense and that is so refreshing and so welcome and he's a complete Meathead so he's not a perfect Mary Sue a flawed but likeable character in an interesting world with a fun setting I look forward to the next volume

Short, well written, worth it

I have read all 6 of the currently available books. Well written, solid world building. Ugland (author) is not afraid to add in the expletives but I would suggest this is in keeping with the character of the protagonist, and the usage isn’t over the top (IMHO). Yes, the books are short, but I’d would take quality over quantity (see Michael Chatfield). The narration is excellent. Looking forward to the new releases and the alternate bad guys series!

Worth the Listen

This series virtually jumps right into the game world and sets a great pace for the remainder of the story. There is very little fluff or throwaway scenes and great game mechanics for leveling and interacting with the world. The difference between 4 stars and 5 lies in the absence of a larger story connecting to this adventure. There is the sense of more going on in the world, but no real stakes or priorities are established that would bring this story more on par with other 5 star litRPG novels such as Chaos Seeds, The Way of the Shaman, or 2 Week Curse. That being said, I've already grabbed book 2 to see if the adventure and story pick up.

Great book, great listen, just one thing.

This book was interesting and engaging, you feel involved in the character and his success. The only reason it is not five stars all the way for me is the way the status pages are written. Saying GG every time you kill something seems a little much and adding cool beans in here and there, it's a little distracting. Besides those knit picks it was great and would definitely recommend. I'm consistently hunting around to get my lit RPG fix until book 9 of the land comes out. If you like lit RPGs I would definitely recommend checking out Mayor of Noobtown, as well as this book. wired name but awesome read.

I enjoyed the book. Skill sheet read off was awful

The main character was a bit of an oaf. I enjoyed it.

The book was too short for my liking, but I'm more into epics.

Fights are straightforward, brutal, and gory. simply, they match the MC. There is also a fair amount of profanity. Not to insinuate that the main character is a bad person, just that he fits the role of a dnd barbarian quite nicely. Although the comparison isn't explicitly made, just obvious through fighting style.

The skill sheet and notification reads were near infuriating. The entire sheet was fully orated every time he looked at it, all the way down to flavor text. If he leveled up more than once we would get the full level up message however many times. Instead of "leveled up 3 times" it was a several sentence level up message, fully repeated 3 seperate times. The only thing making it better was the sound of annoyance from the narrator.

As far as the narrator goes I really like him. He did pretty well keeping up with the writing. His overall pacing and inflection made sentences interesting to listen to and it felt less like I was being narrated too and more like I was sharing the thoughts of the MC. For example the aforementioned annoyance with the skill sheet and notification read felt less like the narrator complaining and more like the MC really hated his notifications.
