A must for fans Alan Watts

Fourteen hours of wisdom from the legendary Alan Watts. I own all of the other lecture series by Watts that are available on Audible and I did not hear any repeated material from those. I thoroughly enjoyed every minute, the sound quality is excellent given the age of some of the recordings. This is a great introduction to Zen and Eastern philosophy in general. I can't recommend this highly enough, if you are a fan or just getting into this wonderful, entertaining philosopher you will not be disappointed!

The intent is to drive you OUT OF YOUR MIND

If you’ve listened to books by Alan Watts before, how does this one compare?

Alan is a great orator and I want to hear his words direct from the source. Unfortunately he does not have a significant number of recordings available here on Audible, at least not ones of any significant length. This particular one was very good, but it did require me to listen to short sections over an extended period, versus longer sessions of a few hours. I do plan to go back and listen again in between other books and lectures. There is a TON of good stuff here and each listen goes to another level.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

NO ... that would have truly driven me out of my mind in a bad way. Alan is a master of Zen practice, particularly keen in his ability to ask open ended questions that really don't warrant an answer. That process is truly designed to bring you outside of the box, outside of your mind and INTO your heart, intuition, creative and authentic self. However, listening to 14+ hours of Alan Watts in one sitting would not be a healthy endeavor.

Any additional comments?

If you enjoy Mr. Watts, consider checking out Robert Bly, Joseph Campbell and Wayne Dyer. Watts was inspiring to all of them.

Boing!

This is a fantastic collection of Alan Watts material that can deliver quite a shift in perspective if one is open to such a thing. Watts' also had a voice that I enjoy listening to. I loved this set of talks and I'm sure I'll listen to it more than once.

Watts is a delight!

This is a collection of lectures that Alan Watts has given. It covers some of his biggest concepts, and the audio collection is arranged pretty well.

Alan Watts' humor and wit is a timeless delight as he discusses consciousness, the way the world works, and explains the reasoning of several eastern religions. Just such a refreshing take! He was such a great mind.

Many of these lectures are labeled the name of the series by the audiobook before Alan Watts starts speaking, which is very helpful for me. I wish all of the chapters had that, but it's OK. The quality was superb, it was a pleasure listening to this book.
