Publisher's summary

Something else has been living beneath the Earth. Now, it's their time to rule . . .

The Yellowstone supervolcano has begun to erupt, sending North America into chaos and the rest of the world into a panic. People are dangerous and desperate, knowing this will plunge the continent, and the world, into perpetual winter.

Until they realize that the eruption is the least of their worries . . .

Out of the massive chasm comes more than ash and lava. Giant monsters emerge, bent on destroying everything in sight.

Federal Marshal Lu Morgan and a ragtag group of survivors and soldiers must fight hard to stay alive and beat back the invasion of massive creatures.

It is a race against time, and a race for survival, as all involved struggle to find answers as to where the monsters came from and how to stop them.

Story line thin.

Story premise is interesting enough but lacked development. Stereotypical characters. Seemed like an effort to rush to publication.

“The Days of our Lives” ...with Kaiju

OUT OF THE SKY - OUT OF THE EARTH - OUT OF THE FIRE

“I loved the idea. The premise sounds so exciting, if done right this could be a fantastic tale.
Unfortunately it’s not done right.

The Kaiju monsters are far in the back ground while the story focuses on the people struggling to survive. The characters are various kinds of annoying and unlikable that continuously fight with each other.

The melodrama is so thick the monsters from the center of the earth couldn’t break through it. What’s more all the characters seem to have the mentality of high school juniors.
The details of what they are doing go on and on, and the talking goes on and on. Moronic yelling screaming and crying.

It’s as if the soap opera “The Days of our Lives” was written by a high school student who thinks that throwing in a lot of cursing will make the novel seem more adult. Because everybody curses like a sailor, the professors, the doctors, the people from the government, the people in the secret bunker underneath the White House. Yep, EVERYONE in this story curses.

I cringed through most of it. Not at the horrific monsters, at the horrifically stupid dialogue.

But did I listen to them all? Sure did.

His monsters are superb. They come in many different, enormous, imaginative shapes. They are extremely dangerous and smash, melt, and eat many of the unlikeable characters.

I listened with a finger on the “30 seconds forward” button. When the melodrama got to be too much I zipped forward. So I listened to it … more like skimmed through it and only heard the juicy parts with monsters.

A really crappy ending

This story concluded without actually completing the story. I regret spending time or money with it.

Great story potential, just needs some good editing on dialogue and characters

This book wasn’t as bad as some reviews led me to believe. The story line has great potential…it has lots of scary mysterious monsters and interesting situations and actions involving them. The pace is a bit slow at times which is ok although it would work better with some tightening up.
I agree with other reviewers that the characters could use some work…too much drama (and rather silly at that…shouting at each other so loudly they attract the monsters they are running from), needless side stories, over the top stereotypes, and disgusting dialogue. All this detracts from the main story.
I don’t know anything about the author, but they strike me as young from the immature portrayal of mature characters and situations. Hopefully with good editing and guidance they will be able to capitalize on their potential.

This wouldn’t even be good on Wattpad

Started out strong but Quickly devolved into something I wouldn’t even listen to for free. Mysterious FBI man comes looking for someone… it’s been ten years tho and he doesn’t have a recent photo. The local police already know who this guy is and they’re covering for the people he’s looking for, super interesting right like what is so special about this person? Does it have anything to do with the apocalyptic crap happening all around them? Mmm no, it’s the ever cliche crap dad looking for son who has been hidden from him for years, he’s not actually intelligent or threatening as you first think he is because he quickly goes off the deep end about his sons lesbian grandmother and says the most ridiculous things you ever heard. He shoots the grandma in front of the kid who manages to stick around and ask stupid but coherent questions, then delulu daddy expects the kid to just instantly bond to and obey him, like, I don’t think you can keep your fbi job that long when you’re THAT stupid.

Written for teens not adults

Very disappointed in the low writing quality, dialogue. It must have been written for teenagers.

Disappointed

I love monster books exactly like this one, and occasionally I come across a series that starts a little slow and takes a bit to get into it. (Dead mech for instance) but after the initial 5 minutes of the book where 2 people get eaten, the rest of the book is long and drawn out. Like it seems like the story advances without actually seeming like it advances.
