He encounters an unlikely alien named Scrankles who has a strange attribute that panics the elders of Dante's people. Almost demon-like, Scrankles is an alien sentient feline being that bonds with Dante.

Instant friends
The friendship between Dante and Scrankles is instant, pure, and selfless. It’s funny, weird, and gross. It’s appropriate for middle grades if they don’t know what certain phrases mean because there isn’t explicit descriptions of romantic adventures.
