The introduction hooked me

I have read a few books about attachment styles, but this audiobook was something I could relate to from the beginning. I will say that I had very loving parents and my family life as a child was caring. However, I still had a fear of abandonment for no reason I have ever been able to decipher. The introductory tale of a child waiting to be picked up by their parent and being very worried reminded me of a time when I got home from Kindergarten (The school was practically next door to my house, so just had to walk across the street), and my mother was not home. She was normally always home, I was not a latch-key child. But the one time she was not home filled me with worry that something terrible had happened to her. It turned out that she was running errands and a bad traffic jam put her more than an hour late returning. She was completely fine, but this was in the days before cell phones and she couldn't call me. That is my first memory of anxious attachment issues, and this book really helped me to understand the issues and my situation much better than before. Thank you.
