About this listen

Hitting on the wrong woman finds Daryl regaining consciousness in a motel taped to a chair. Things were looking up - and not just below the belt. A sexy, cocoa-complexioned veterinarian - with killer curves - wants answers, and he's only too happy to give them to her, for a price, say a kiss, or something more, from those luscious lips. The problem is, Cynthia isn't the type to fall for flirty words and panty-dropping smiles. She tempts Daryl into helping her. Teases him into acting. Claims his heart without even trying. But that was okay because his every instinct tells him "She's mine, and someone was trying to hurt her."

Hell no. This kitty isn't afraid to unleash his claws and rescue the woman he wants. An intriguing, hot woman, a mystery, and danger? Sounds like fun, and Daryl is ready to play. He'll do anything to claim Cynthia as his mate.

Reluctant shifter romance

Compared to the first book, this one had witty humour and sass, but didn't lose the overall seriousness of the shifters going missing. Really enjoy these types of series that have standalone stories that are connected by an suspense arc, with each book getting closer to the revelation/ resolution. Despite her TSTL moments, I liked Cynthia's dedication to doing whatever it takes to find her friend, even when she knew she was out of her depth. I agree with other reviewers that just like its explicitly stated that Darryl is latino, its perfectly ok to say that Cynthia is black instead of only implying it with words like "mocca skin" or "poofy hair" etc. We love the diversity of characters and there's no need to skirt around it. Noticed the skirting in another book by the author too - 'When a Lioness Pounces' in the Lion Pride series.

Here’s the cheeky shifter romance I’ve missed

For a veterinarian (not to mention wolf shifter), Cynthia is quite the dimwit. But, it makes for funny hijinks as she abducts panther shifter Daryl to search for her missing friend. My favorite comedy bit was the little intros with Cynthia’s momma rolling with whatever Cynthia says. Also fun were Daryl’s bumper stickers. Yup, the author’s trademark campiness is back after a mediocre book 1.

On the downside, this is the second book in this series to have sassy, but ultimately damsel FMCs and a segment where she goes on stage in a strip club, making this feel rather trashy. The next book also has a strip club moment, although that one only involves dinner.

Quibbles aside, this was fun and frisky and the best of the series, in my opinion. I still prefer the funnier Kodiak Point and Dragon Point series that bookend this series.

a little disappointing

Is Cynthia a black girl, if so say it. and why whenever there is a black character they have a disability of some kind?
What I do love about the character other than the critiques is,... everything!
A lot of authors show the negative aspects of black culture but this author just made Cynthia a character like any of her other ones.
Advice...
People will read the books even if the hero or heroine is strongly stated as black. You authors can bring diversity through your writing.
From the millions of black readers like me, keep up the good work.
I love Chandra Skyye' s narrating style.

Enjoyable Story

The narrator did a good job. This was a quick easy listen that entertained me. While each book is about a separate couple this series has a continuation storyline arc.
