Publisher's summary

You may know Katie Featherston and Micah Sloat from Paranormal Activity, the 2007 found-footage horror film that launched a blockbuster franchise. Now, inspired by the fictional haunting that brought them together, the friends and former co-stars are examining real-life stories of demonic possession, tracing the phenomenon from its earliest known accounts to its modern-day headlines.

With help from noted experts in witchcraft, shamanism, exorcism, and parapsychology, Katie and Micah explore chilling cases throughout history and across cultures, challenging our understanding of the world—or worlds—around us.

About the Creator and Host

Micah Sloat is best known for his breakout role in the 2009 surprise smash Paranormal Activity, the microbudget indie horror film that became the most profitable film of all time. His performance earned him a Teen Choice Award nomination for Best Horror Film Actor, and he reprised his role in several Paranormal Activity sequels.
Born in Westport, Connecticut, in 1981, Sloat graduated summa cum laude from Skidmore College with a bachelor's degree in philosophy. He also holds a degree in guitar performance with honors from Musician's Institute and a master's degree in Transpersonal Psychology with a specialization in creativity & innovation from Sofia University. He is a member of MENSA and Phi Beta Kappa.
Sloat has a broad background in spiritual practices across many traditions, with a focus on Peruvian shamanism, British Traditional Witchcraft, Kabbalah, Hawaiian shamanism, and Buddhism. His psychological interests include Jungian psychoanalysis, Internal Family Systems, Somatic Experiencing, cognitive behavioral therapy, hypnosis, and Neuro-Linguistic Programming. His private, referral-only practice combines western methodologies with ancient spiritual teachings.
A storyteller at heart, Sloat's most recent pilot, Wake the System, has garnered significant recognition, including a top 5 placement in the Save the Cat! screenplay competition, a finalist position in the StoryPros Awards, and inclusion on The Red List and Page Turner Shortlist. He is currently developing several original projects under the banner of his production company, Einstein Entertainment.
An accomplished singer, Sloat has won three Barbershop Harmony Society international championships and the title of Choir of the World as a member of the prestigious Westminster Chorus. He is the author of The Westminster Chorus Handbook: An Acting Method for Singers.
A perennial student of martial arts, Sloat is currently training in Ninjutsu. Believing that those who learn to harm ought to learn to heal, he is also a licensed EMT.
When not engaged in creative pursuits, Sloat travels the world seeking adventure. He has climbed volcanoes in the Andes, paddled the entire length of the Everglades, and trekked through the Amazon jungle to participate in ancient ceremonial rituals. He continues to be awed and inspired by his travels, whether that means silent meditation in the Negev desert, scuba diving in Belize, or building homes for impoverished families in Cuba.
