Publisher's summary

Paul knew his future of arrest and eventual martyrdom, and knew more trouble was coming to the Church. As Gnostic false prophets were already active in the Church bringing in their doctrines of the demons. Also, Paul was already exposing the presence of false apostles who were bringing into the Church what Paul identified as another Jesus, by another Gospel, by a false Holy Spirit. All those situations were already happening, now Paul is going to his own death at the hands of Rome. With Pauls departure he warns of corruption from within the Church coming from the Church leaders themselves who would draw men away from Jesus Christ unto their own agendas. Also false prophets would arise as devouring wolves from within their own ranks not sparing the flock. It seems like he is passing the torch unto one of his fellow apostolic leaders whom Paul is giving final instructions and warnings.
