#1 NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER • THE BLOCKBUSTER JACK REACHER SERIES THAT INSPIRED TWO MAJOR MOTION PICTURES AND THE STREAMING SERIES REACHER
“The best one yet.”—Stephen King
Someone has tried to kill the French president. How many snipers can shoot from three-quarters of a mile with total confidence? John Kott—a U.S. Army marksman gone bad—is one of them. After fifteen years in prison, he’s out . . . and there’s a G8 summit coming up, packed with enough world leaders to tempt any assassin.
If anyone can stop Kott, it’s the man who beat him before: Jack Reacher. And though he’d rather work alone, Reacher is teamed with rookie analyst Casey Nice. They’re facing a rough road, full of local thugs, double-crosses, and no backup if things go wrong. Reacher never gets too close. But this time it’s personal.
This edition includes the bonus short story “Not a Drill.”

Planes crash into it and fall from the sky in flaming wreckage, a gardener's hand is severed as "the dome" comes down on it, people running errands in the neighboring town are divided from their families, and cars explode on impact. No one can fathom what this barrier is, where it came from, and when - or if - it will go away.

Critic reviews
“Reacher is the stuff of myth, a great male fantasy. . . . One of this century’s most original, tantalizing pop-fiction heroes . . . [Lee] Child does a masterly job of bringing his adventure to life with endless surprises and fierce suspense.”—The Washington Post
“Yet another satisfying page-turner.”—Entertainment Weekly
“Reacher is always up for a good fight, most entertainingly when he goes mano a mano with a seven-foot, 300-pound monster of a mobster named Little Joey. But it’s Reacher the Teacher who wows here.”—Marilyn Stasio, The New York Times

You probably haven't noticed them. But they've noticed you. They notice everything. That's their job. Sitting quietly in a nondescript car outside a bank making note of the tellers' work habits. Lagging a few car lengths behind the Brinks truck on its daily rounds. Surreptitiously jiggling the handle of an unmarked service door at the racetrack. They're heisters.

The hero is at the centre of formative myths in every culture and persists to this day in world-conquering books, films and TV shows. But why do these characters continue to inspire us, and why are they so central to storytelling? Scalpel-sharp on the roots of storytelling and enlightening on the history and science of myth, The Hero is essential listening for anyone trying to write or understand fiction.

If you think someone is out to get you...they are
Hunter or hunted? The most dangerous game. Lee Child is a master of the slow developing double cross. And the punch line is delivered as sudden and swiftly as a Jack Reacher elbow to the throat.

The fight in Little Joey's house
Which character – as performed by Dick Hill – was your favorite?
Bennet
If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

Not the best Reacher
Would you try another book from Lee Child and/or Dick Hill?
Yes
How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?
More action earlier on - we expect trouble to find Reacher quickly.
What does Dick Hill bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
He is the voice of Reacher
Could you see Personal being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?
Why the hell Lee Child approved Tom Cruise is beyond me.
Liam Neeson would have been a good choice or at least somebody big, tall and bad ass.
Any additional comments?
I've read every Reacher novel - and this was certainly not one of the better one. It took 28 chapters - "That's two less than 30 - 4 more than 2 dozen and just under half of 58, which is the total number of chapters in the book." 28 chapters - for Jack Reacher - to throw his first punch. A bit too long if you ask me.

Jack Reacher falls short
Loved it and the Reacher character. I like the guy who reads the story but got tired of not hearing the woman’s voice. Too soft and made her character really weak. I liked the story until the end where it dragged and and I wished it would be over. Needed to wrap it up and put it out of misery sooner.

Bring back Reacher
I have listened to ALL of the Jack Reacher series. This one had me bored!! Way too many details about EVERYTHING!!! The most irritating was the Zoloft issue. Zoloft is an antidepressant and it takes 4-6 weeks before it kicks in. No such thing as a Zoloft addiction. Lee, do your research. I was so distracted by this, that it didn't let me enjoy the book. Now if you have to use an addictive drug, Xanax, Klonopin, etc.
Love you Dick Hill. You are the voice of Reacher!!!

Good story
What made the experience of listening to Personal the most enjoyable?
Good story, nice suspense
What do you think the narrator could have done better?
The narrator tried hard to differentiate the characters. However in doing so, he made his voice to soft to hear. I listen while walking near traffic, or while driving, and I had to constantly increase or decrease the volume.
