Are there dimensions of existence beyond the material world? If so, can we connect with loved ones who have passed, and with higher levels of consciousness than our own? Messages of Hope is the pause-resisting story of a former skeptic who has found the answers to these questions and more through evidential communication with the unseen realms. Commander Suzanne Giesemann, former US Navy commanding officer and aide to the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, never expected that a personal family tragedy would propel her on a mystical journey.

Story
When Mike and Beth Pasakarnis received the news that every parent dreads, their world seemed to crumble around them. Spiritual teacher and evidential medium Suzanne Giesemann knew exactly how they felt. Like Mike and Beth’s son Wolf, her stepdaughter Susan had been struck and killed by a bolt of lightning out of the blue. Until meeting Mike and Beth, Suzanne - a former “by the book” navy commander - had cautiously refrained from using the word proof when speaking of the eternal existence of the soul.

To Anne Serling, the imposing figure the public saw hosting The Twilight Zone each week, intoning cautionary observations about fate, chance, and humanity, was not the father she knew. Her fun-loving dad would play on the floor with the dogs, had nicknames for everyone in the family, and was apt to put a lampshade on his head and break out in song. He was her best friend, her playmate, and her confidant. After his unexpected death at 50, Anne, just 20, was left stunned.

Story
In an idyllic Los Angeles neighborhood, where generations enjoy deep roots in old homes, the O’Rourke family fits right in. Miriam and Craig are both artists and their four children carry on the legacy. When their teenage son, Nick, is diagnosed with schizophrenia, a tumultuous decade ensues in which the family careens off the conventional course. Like the 10 Biblical plagues, they are hit by one catastrophe after another: violence, evictions, arrests, a suicide attempt, a near-drowning - even cancer and a brain tumor - play against the backdrop of a wild teenage bacchanal.

Listened to the entire book in one day!
Wonderful, thought-provoking, and a very enjoyable listen. The authors reading was impeccable, and very pleasant.
I enjoyed every chapter, and especially the extra chapter at the end.
Will be moving on to listen to the rest of his books.

Wonderful Read
I enjoy this book so much. I’ve read it twice and listened to it now. John has such a great way of bringing you into his memories and his experiences. This book makes you go hmmmm a lot. If you wonder about life’s coincidences, being in the right place at the right time and things happening for a reason this is definitely a book for you.

I have to listen again
I am going to listen to John's book again and again. Hearing the words in John's amazing voice is a big big plus and reminds me of his days on our local radio station and how uplifting his messages were. This book is so thought provoking and there is much more to comprehend than just a simple listen. Some chapters were stark reminders of personal experiences. In a time of emerging from a pandemic and wondering what roads life will take me on I find John's messages especially relevant. I do not have John's gifts, but his reflections on his experiences will help show me a way to clear the clutter in my mind, listen and look for the messages and gain a clearer understanding of what really matters.

Excellent book!
What a wonderful story to hear read by the actual author. I had read this book before and enjoyed it! But to hear the author read the experiences he had written about made it even more magical. I highly recommend this one!

Highly Recommend!
I had chills and tears in nearly every chapter of this book. John’s experiences touched me deeply as he vividly and beautifully described the events and the emotions he felt at the time. I also read the book but enjoyed the audible version even more hearing John’s voice recounting each amazing memory. I highly recommend the audible version of this wonderful book!

Phenomena Review.
This is the first time I have ever reviewed a book. Most of my reading has been biographical and non fiction with a bit of history thrown in. This book had no problem grabbing my attention and not letting go. The references to familiar places in and around Chicago (my home town) helped paint the background for John's St. Augustine's fascinating stories. If there is one word to describe John's book , mine would be hopeful. This book is filled with the hope of understanding the connections we all have with our past and our future. The people we meet and the places we go. I could only hope my connections would be as strong as John's, without the near death experiences. People longing to understand the " why's "and "how come's" of this life we have will come away loving this book. I did. This book made me smile and gave me chills more times than I could count. It was throughly enjoyable. I now have to work backwards to read the other books authored by John St. Augustine.
