Critic reviews

"Pimsleur programs provide plenty of positive reinforcement that will keep learners on track, and we found that Pimsleur gave us more proficiency and confidence in speaking the new language than any of the other language programs we reviewed." ( AudioFile magazine)

Almost perfect

This is an excellent companion for learning Persian (Farsi). It’s much better than my experience with Rosetta Stone. Unfortunately it teaches the written form of speech rather than the spoken. Since this is a strictly speaking and listening course it would be less confusing if we were taught the spoken form of the language. Other than that, this has been an amazing tool!

A convenient way to pick up Farsi

My children and I enjoy learning Farsi together. The children will listen as they play and I do my work.

Great way to learn Farsi!

Unit 1 is a great way to learn the basics. A lot of it is more for tourist conversation and I'm looking forward to learning more general conversation

Want to learn Farsi? Start here!

Best way to learn driving to and from work ! Segments are designed to be listen to at 25-40 minute intervals. About 6 days of material ( recommended to only listen to one a day). Read a few papers on the method of how they re-introduce material to you at different minute intervals. It’s the idea of spaced interval testing and the academic research has shown outstanding results. I’ve been trying to learn Farsi for years! (Over 8 years) There aren’t very good programs out there for speaking and pronunciation but this one is amazing ! It breaks down words into individual syllables. It’s similar to the principles of Anki Flashcards for space recognition. I learned more in a week and have retained more than I ever have in the last 8 years. Take it seriously when they ask you to repeat what the speaker says. Repeat EVERY single word the speaker says. Makes a huge difference. I know it takes up a whole book credit to listen and I wish it was longer but it is STILL worth it.

good start

it taught me some fundamental Farsi phrases and broke down what each word meant. I'm excited to learn more and will likely buy the next unit

Pimsleur Farsi

I have studied many languages using many different methods. I find this Pimsleur approach to be the mode engaging and helpful. People tall me that my pronunciation is very good. This is because of the very practical approach that these recordings are based on. I love it.

Effective

In just a matter of days, I was speaking Farsi with my dad, who thought I would never learn his native tongue. It’s very basic, but it’s a very enjoyable method of learning while doing chores or driving. I repeat lessons so as to help with storing the info to memory. I’m in my thirties and it’s never too late to learn something new. Highly recommend.

Awesome

Really liked it. The repetition is very helpful. My girlfriend is a native farsi speaker and she was very impressed with the material I learned in the first 5 lessons, especially my pronunciation. Thanks to Pimsleur! On to the next 5!

Very little coverage for 4 lessons

A basic coverage should get the speaker up fast with introduction, numbers, transport, shopping. With 4 lessons, all that was done is introduction, and very repetitive. Definitely not value for money. And.. it's always about Are you Amercian?
