A great find

I love finding an author new to me whom I love. I want to read all his books.

Lurking in the Woods of Maine . . .

Son of hard-drinking, rough-living, Jack Bowditch, Mike, the local game warden doesn't believe his father is capable of murder . . . poaching, yes . . . murder, no . . . long estranged from his father, Mike's memories of his dad are mostly of his parents fighting before they divorced when he was a boy . . . and of a poaching incident on one of Mike's few visits to his dad's hunting camp when he was a teen . . . and then comes a phone call from his dad . . . out of the blue . . . risking his job as game warden, Mike goes out on search of the truth,hoping to clear his father's name . . . I really liked Poacher's Son . . . enjoyed the narration . . . I've never been to Maine . . . so the accents were no problem for me . . . the folks in the area, about to be bought out by the land developer after spending their whole lives fishing, hunting and peacefully living off the land, struck a cord within me . . . as I'm a country girl myself . . .This is a great "first in a series" . . . I will be moving on to Book Two . . .

What did you like best about this story?

An engaging story about a young game warden in Maine. Suspenseful, realistic characters, real problems.

What does Henry Leyva bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

The reader had an authentic Maine accent. Most pronunciations were correct.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

No. I wanted to stretch it out and enjoy it.

Good start

I ll have to get the second book in this series to see if uit keeps going.

Not ready to buy book 2

I didn't live the book and almost gave up and moved on. I think Mike needs a good therapist. For me the most memorable moment was when Mike got his head out of his butt and started acting like a grown up. I did like the narrator - he grew on me.

Great book!

This was a fast easy read. Only disappointment For me was it Was done too quickly. I was already searching for another book within 24 hours. Because I listen to Books on audible I am always listening something While working in the yard, or the garden Or while cleaning houseIf the author maintains his level or improves he is well on his way! For all you raders out there it is well worth the read I was not disappointed.

Good story, had me going as to who the killer actually was.

Don’t know why everyone’s hung up on the “Maine accent”. Since I really don’t care about it and only use the accents to distinguish who’s talking. Overall, I thought it was a good story and I totally blew who I thought the killer was. It was interesting and moved right along as a good story should. Definitely will listen to the next in series.

Chick Flick Book

The story plot was weak. It is mostly about the warden finding his feminine side.

Good Adventure

Overall it is a good suspense story. A little too overdramatic is several occasions, but you should just bear through it.
