About this listen

Samuel Clearwater, aka Preppy, likes bowties, pancakes, suspenders, good friends, good times, good drugs, and a good f--k.

He's worked his way out from beneath a hellish childhood and is living the life he's always imagined for himself. When he meets a girl, a junkie on the verge of ending it all, he's torn between his feelings for her and the crippling fear that she could be the one to end the life he loves.

Andrea 'Dre' Capulet is strung out and tired.

Tired of living for her next fix. Tired of doing things that make her stomach turn. Tired of looking in the mirror at the reflection of the person she's become. Just when she decides to end it all, she meets a man who will change the course of both their lives forever.

And their deaths.

For most people, death is the end of their story.

For Preppy and Dre, death was only the beginning.

Preppy is incredible!

Would you consider the audio edition of Preppy: The Life & Death of Samuel Clearwater, Part 1 to be better than the print version?

It only enhanced T.M. Frazier's work!

What did you like best about this story?

The story line.

Have you listened to any of Lance Greenfield and Kirsten Leigh ’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I am new to them, but I will be seeking more out from them in the future.

Any additional comments?

Preppy by T. M. Frazier is unlike any book I have ever read. T. M. Frazier brought me into this incredibly developed world of two amazing characters and I did not want to leave. The characters were memorable and I couldn't help but fall in love with each of them as well as their flaws. I could not tear myself away as I burned through the pages to find out what would happen next Though it is a part of her King series, it can be read as a stand a lone, but it will definitely not be the last you read in the series, as it does end in a cliff hanger.

The reason I say this is unlike any book I have ever read is that it is written from the perspectives of two eccentric characters who are experiencing life altering situations. Dre is a desperate junkie trying to find a way out or her next fix, whichever will numb her pain. In a dire circumstance, she ends up meeting Samuel Clearwater AKA, Preppy who ultimately saves her life. Though he is in no way a savior, he is facing his own demons which will inevitably be the end of both of them. Their combustible chemistry is off the charts, but sometimes that is not enough.

Preppy himself is a unique character. He says things like he sees them. He is brash, cocky, confident and yet somewhat broken which made me love him even more. I never knew what he was going to do or what he was going to say. The twists and turns in the plot were magnificent and T. M. Frazier has an incredible ability to share how family will do the ultimate sacrifice for those they love.

There is so much more to this book than the drugs, combustible chemistry as well as loyalty. I can't quite put a finger on it, but it definitely is worth the read.

PS- The audio version of this book is fantastic. I have never listened to Lance Greenfield or Kristin Leigh before, but I am now a huge fan of both of theirs. Their narration only enhanced T. M. Frazier's work. I will certainly be looking for more books from these talented individuals to entertain me with in the future!

Preppy

Joint review of book 5 and 6 of this series.

Love this series. Love this author. Great stories, great characters. I wasn't sure what I was expecting from Preppy's story, but it was so well done.

Did not know there was going to be a cliff hanger at the end of book 6. Don't love that. Oh well I guess I will just have to wait it out.

Wow! Another winner from TM Frazier

Preppy's life was so messed up but this explained a lot of what made him who he was. Andria was his shining light, but had her fair share of issues.
I was sceptical of the narrators because I had a vision of Preppy from the previous books and wasn't sure if Lance Greenfield could pull it off. But he brought out a side of the character which really made him human...or as human as Preppy could be. And the cliffhanger...I am so glad I waited until all books were out because there is no way I could handle NOT being able to dive right into the next one.

What a heartbreak!

My heart bleeds for Preppy! Gosh what that poor boy has gone through and still grow up to be a resilient man is just remarkable. This book gives the background to who Preppy is and what has made him become the person he is today. Yes he’s a bit twisted but considering what he went through growing up it could be worse. He at least has enough sense to only hurt those that deserve it. As for his need to cause some pain or fear to get off sexually well that doesn’t bother me one bit. Not my thing but hey people pay good money for just that experience soooo there’s definitely something out there for everyone. Dre is just as broken as Preppy just in a different way. They both help each other come out of darkness. Obviously this book end on a cliffhanger so we don’t get their HEA in this book so I’m jumping straight into the next. Preppy fun loving quirky sense of humor has been a favorite of mine through the King series so I’m glad to have finally gotten to Preppy’s story. If you haven’t read or listened to the other books in this series stop now. Go find King and start from the beginning to fully appreciate the Preppy storyline.

The Narrators have gotten a bad rap for the Preppy books so I was worried about downloading them and hating them since when it comes to listening to books a narrator can make or break a book. So my 2 cents on this is that yes the narrators were different and I usually like to hear the same narrators in series because you do get use to their style and it’s easy to transition between books. But I still went into this book with an open mind and was absolutely not disappointed. Different doesn’t mean bad just different. I though both narrators did a great job and brought the story life.

Let’s just say there was a lot of ugly crying while reading these books.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I was already in love with the character of Samuel Clearwater aka “Preppy” from the other books in the series. My love for Preppy began when he was introduced in KING. And that love increased exponentially in TYRANT, LAWLESS, and SOULLESS. I had to force myself to listen to the first few chapters of BOOK ONE, because it took me that long accept the voice of Lance Greenfield as Preppy. But only because Rob Shapiro was phenomenal in in his representation of all things Samual Clearwater in the previous “King books”. I almost didn’t listen to the audio version. I like to listen to the audio while I read along. Well, I am so glad that I did because OMG!!! I thought I loved the stories of King and Doe/Rae, and Bear/Thia... but the story of Preppy and Dre??? Let’s just say there was a lot of ugly crying while reading these books. A LOT!!! And I just have to say that now I’m plan on reading/listening to all things TM Frazier because any writer who can invoke that much emotion, and passion, and.. well, LIFE into their books and characters.... deserves not only a faithful follower but a FUCKING CULT FOLLOWING!😎🥰😎🥰 Now I’m going to leave this review and begin reading the next in the series which I believe is SMOKE. And then I’m going to run to the store for some ingredients. Because for the last few days I have had a serious strong craving for pancakes, because... PANCAKES!!! 😉🥰😎
