About this listen
If you think monsters are scary...you don't know jack!
Wisecracking cryptozoologist Dr. Obadiah "Jack" Jackson has hunted plenty of dangerous creatures over the years. But he finds a lot more than he bargained for when he travels to Malaysia to save a beautiful missionary and her village from being ravaged by ghoulish, blood-feeding monsters straight from local legend known as the jenglot.
The jenglot are very dangerous, elusive, and intelligent. But that's the least of Jack's troubles. Others besides the blood-crazed cryptids want Jack dead as well...a local witchdoctor threatened by the missionary's message of hope and a mysterious guerilla leader who seems to have a dark and secret agenda. Jack and his team must keep their wits about them to escape the jenglot and discover the answers to the deep mysteries surrounding their existence.

A chilling action thriller with a sense of humor
What did you love best about Primal Thirst?
Jack makes for a flawed but admirable protagonist. He's supported by an equally strong cast of supporting characters who are as engaging as they are compelling.
What did you like best about this story?
The best part of the story? The creepy crawly's that go bump in the night. At the heart of the tale is a search for creatures of legend. The story not only makes good on the legend but explains the creatures to my scientific satisfaction while adding a healthy dose of conspiracy to the mix. This makes for a great book.
Which scene was your favorite?
Jack vs the creatures in the jungle when realizes they are divided into specialized classes… and he may not yet have met all forms of the creatures.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
If I'd had the opportunity, I could easily have listed to this book in a single sitting. It was fast paced and maintained my attention constantly.
Any additional comments?
The second book in the series does not appear to be on Audible. I would like to see it available in audio format.

Fantastic!
Their are not many authors that I choose to listen to rather than sleep but Kent Holloway has been added to that short list. Primal Thirst is fantastic, action-packed from the get go with characters that you can't help but love. Some moments had my jaw hanging open, I'm pretty good at seeing twists but the twists in this book threw me big time and it was awesome.
Kiff VandenHeuvel did a wonderful job, especially with Jack - he portrayed him just as I imagined when I read the book. Smart, funny, sarcastic, charming. Pure entertainment.

Sweet adventure story
Primal Thirst is a wonderful tale, sort of like an Indy kind of adventure, but the characters and story are all their own. Holloway creates like able/hate able characters, and Kiff VandenHeuvel's narration adds the sarcasm and wit to Jack's telling of the story. Very cool!
