When a jealous Zeus discovers that the compassionate Titan, Prometheus, has introduced the gift of fire to liberate mere mortals from oppression and servitude, he has Prometheus bound to a rocky prison in the Scythian desert, where the god discloses the reason for his punishment – And in one brief sentence learn the whole at once—All arts among the human race are from Prometheus.

Prometheus Bound is one of only seven surviving plays by the prolific Athenian playwright, Aeschylus. Born into a noble family in 525 BC, Aeschylus is credited with having introduced dialogue into the Greek drama, and indeed is a father of modern theater.

Amazing actor performing a classic which is far more than an ancient myth. Prometheus's story is a symbol for resilience, courage, and pride in one's beliefs, values that are timeless and to be admired in any place and culture. I really enjoyed it!

Excellent performance of an inspiring story

I like Greek myths and drama but this was hard to follow due to the fact that the one guy does all the stage directions and all the characters so there is no differentiation, nothing to signal a new character and so the speeches all blend together. You lose track of the dramatic push for each speaker. So while I continue to listen and study the dramas, this one is a bit tough.

Mr. Field gave a wonderful performance of Prometheus Bound. All the characters came to life - so vividly that I could picture each of them, as well as the remote and desolate rock where Prometheus was bound. I love the archaic language of the translation, which I think added to the depth and profundity of the play.

Loved this recording!

If you have never read this play or seen it , I recommend this audiobook. We all know that Prometheus gave fire to mankind, but there is so much more to the story.
