His life begins to unravel when one of his female patients is found in an apparent suicide and the local paper begins printing accusations from an unnamed source of sexual impropriety between the woman and Dr. Gregory. Good story. Vocal performance so so.
The story was a typically good JA Jance. Good plot, good twists. Vocal performance was quite annoying in that emphasis would be placed on the wrong word in a sentence as if the performer was reading it cold. He used a somewhat sarcastic sing-song voice for the main character and at times it would bleed over to the other characters as well. Then at one point in the middle of the book he read it all straight, no sarcasm or sing song, for several chapters. I was beginning to wonder if they had changed performers and then all of a sudden the sarcasm was back. Weird. I have read approximately 15 of the JP Beaumont series so I guess I have a firm idea of his voice in my head and sarcastic sing song is not it.

Sleepy approach but exciting result
The tone of the book and the actor reading at our casual, but the story is self is compelling and warm. I recommend this book.

J. A. Jance is a great writer and I love reading her books. I like the storyteller also.

The narrator suits the book very well
The story lines are very fine, but the narrator just makes it come alive…very nice combo. Will read more…I have to find more of their relationship with Lucy! …and the new baby!
