Worth the time

The writing is a bit dated but the topic is good and Scott Brick is excellent as always.

Almost Modern

The writing style and even the content reads like it was just written within the last decade rather than nearly 4 decades ago. I enjoy his books as much as Clancy.

A beautifully woven tale!

Cussler is an outstanding author, and this is evidence of his skill. I’m a retired long haul trucker who has enjoyed many miles in the company of the likes of Dirk Pitt, Al Giordino, and Admiral Sandecker, and am glad for every mile that I ran!

One of the best page turners I came across

Story was thrilling, narration was best and so many twists. I never felt bored when listening to this and too bad not available in India

Amazing story

The Titanic is such a sad tale and will always bring out curiosity to the world about its fate. It has been interesting to be listening to this fiction while in the real world for the last 5 days there has been a submersible fighting to save itself from the Titanic’s same fate when it was trying to tour the Titanic wreck. I think the Titanic will always be an allure to others but we must learn from its failures. We must never put ego over lives and be willing to learn from the history of successes and failures of this world. This story was very good at teaching this lesson and bringing us back to the history of the Titanic on what it must have been truly like.

Dirk Pitt redefined

In this fourth volume of the Dirk Pitt series, there is a marked change in the style of writing and in the character of Dirk Pitt. Previously, the books had been entertaining imitations of James Bond books. This volume was different. Here the thriller element of the story is the star, and Dirk the point of view character for most of it. His adventures here are more in service to the story than the other way around. Dirk barely shows up until well into the story, and has no meaningful dialogue until nearly a quarter of the way through the book. His misogynistic tendencies, shown quite glaringly in the previous books are toned down a bit. Mind you, I would not take relationship advice from him, but he is not a complete ass here. The action is well paced with politics, espionage, natural and technological dangers all fairly realistically presented. This is a new Dirk Pitt who can sub for a modern James Bond without the added baggage of outdated values and easily dated spy versus spy action. This was an enjoyable listen. So far, this has been the best in the series so far. recommended.

Great novel of the time

As others have stated it’s a bit dated but and excellent listen!

If words and ideas easily offend you though. You may not like it. This was written in a different era
