Publisher's summary

When the War Between the States came to its end, the battle inside Isaiah Jones raged on. Neither fully human nor fully wolf, he found his peace-and the passion his inner wolf craved-with Adelaide Cameron. Though their union was forbidden by the werewolf soldiers, Isaiah satisfied his urges by guarding her from afar. But when Adelaide is abducted, Isaiah must not only expose his dark nature, but invite her into the shadows with him.

Good start to a new series

Would you consider the audio edition of Reaper's Justice to be better than the print version?

I only listened to the book, therefore I can't comment. I did enjoy the audio. The narrator wasn't bad and wasn't great. I think there room for improvement but I think the book is well worth the listen. If you enjoy Sarah McCarty. I can't say I really enjoyed the Hell's gate series. But the other about the brothers rocks.

Who was your favorite character and why?

I like Addy. She grew into herself throughout the story.

Which scene was your favorite?

Addy when she realizes she'll need to eat her food with her fingers.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

The first coupling between Addy and Isiah

Any additional comments?

I would have liked the author to have spent a little more time on the interplay between Addy, Isiah and Blade. The little that there was,is entertaining.

NEVER A DULL MOMENT !

From the opening lines, to the final passages this story IS exciting. It's a wonderful treatment of the post civil war days combined with werewolves. I can't begin to express how very much I enjoyed the intellegent and heart warming effects the actions of the different characters gave me. I natually was looking for something with a western flavor after the "Hells Eight Series", which I followed up with "The Shadow Wrangler Series". The first book in this series of books delivers.

Very Interesting Man, i mean wolf.

I liked this book. I agree with the other reviewers that this book isn't as "hot" as the Hells Eight Series or the Shadow Wranglers but I enjoyed the struggle for understanding between the man, the wolf and the woman. I look forward to the books in the series.

Not what I was expecting

After SM's cowboy vampire series I just finished up I expected so much more of this book, but unfortunately it's not as good as those. Maybe the next book in this series will be better but this is just a OK listen for me.

pretty good story

This one would be better to be read. I do not like the low whispery tone to this narrator. I keep expecting it straighten up. It's irritating, distracting.
Yeah, I'll need to get the book. Can't do this one.

Awesome start to a new werewolf cowboy series

Love Sarah McCarty books - haven't found one that has disappointed me and this one is no exception. Brilliant new take on the werewolf shifter type books. Isaiah is a Reaper - after the Civil War torture and experiments were done on a group of Soldiers which changed them into werewolves with shattered memories.

Isaiah is drawn to Adelaide (who has issues of her own) but he believes he is a monster and is undeserving of her so he never approaches her - he just keeps her safe by watching over her from afar. That is, until she is kidnapped and then he has no choice but to let his dark side out in the hope of saving her.

It's an enjoyable paranormal western romance, not as 'hot' as some of her previous series, but it has it's moments and it's a must have for her fans.

Worth the credit? Yup.

A Tantalizing beginners!

This isn’t a shifter story but, more of a traditional Werewolf story. The Hero is a survivor of an experiment perpetrated on kidnapped children; in the attempt to create the perfect assassins. Unfortunately, these assassins had a conscious. They killed their captors and tried to learn to control their beast halves. The Hero discovers that it is possible to mate and convert a human woman, but unfortunately, that is against the Reaper’s self-made laws and they become fugitives.

As with the beginning of each new series, this first book has much of its focus on world building and character introduction. I’m not sure what direction it will take but I am interested enough to move to book two and find out. Here’s Hoping!
