Publisher's summary

The first book in a new multibook series from New York Times best-selling author Colleen Houck about a teenage girl entangled in an epic Egyptian quest full of romance, adventure, and mythology!

When 17-year-old Lilliana Young enters the Metropolitan Museum of Art one morning during spring break, the last thing she expects to find is a live Egyptian prince with godlike powers who has been reawakened after 1,000 years of mummification. And she really can't imagine being chosen to aid him in an epic quest that will lead them across the globe. But fate has taken hold of Lily, and she, along with her sun prince, Amon, must travel to the Valley of the Kings, raise his brothers, and stop an evil, shape-shifting god named Seth from taking over the world. From New York Times best-selling author Colleen Houck comes an epic adventure about two star-crossed teens who must battle mythical forces and ancient curses on a journey with more twists and turns than the Nile itself.

Love this book

I love this book and the author. She is original in her writing and you can tell she has done her homework. I fell in love with her Tigers Curse series but I'm falling in love with this one. I WANT MORE!!!

Excellent

Loved it. It was just as amazing as her prior books. It is refreshing to read series not overwhelmed by sexual situations.

ReAwakened - My Love of YA

After awhile, these books tend to have the same timeline in a plot series, this book breaks that completely. I was utterly compelled to finish this story, not because of its current wit and quippy sayings, nor because of the love element ( which also was very realistic ) but rather because of the on going suspense and non-typical outcomes. It takes a lot to touch my heart, with YA tales, and this one holds my Heart Scarab completely !!

Expertly written

This book was phenomenal. As with everything Colleen Houck writes, there is an elegance to the story. It's easy to tell writing is her passion and this book does not disappoint. It was wonderful following along with this story and Lily has become one of my favorite characters. I kept hoping something wouldn't happen at the end, but it just couldn't have been avoided I suppose. What happened with the epilogue though? Was that Amon???

Almost There

Where does Reawakened rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

I would place "Reawakened" somewhere towards the middle. I'm glad I bought the audiobook, and I might relisten to it before the next of the series comes out, but it wasn't a narration or plot I was completely enamored with.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Reawakened?

I enjoyed when Lily finally understands what Amon is so the plot could continue forwards. Don't get me wrong, I love the tiny miscommunications between Lily and Amon, but it got to a point where myself as the reader knew more than Lily and I was practically shouting at her in my car "He's an immortal mummy! It says so in the synopsis! Let's move on!"

Which scene was your favorite?

I adore all the feasting scenes. It seems that this is when they have time to communicate and understand each other.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Nothing so extreme. I became concerned at the end, believing that this was only a one book deal until I realized, nope, there will be more.

Any additional comments?

Unfortunately, I compared this novel's reading to Colleen Houk's "Tiger's Curse" series. Annika Boris spoiled me with deep, masculine voices and beautiful accents. Though Phoebe Strole did fine with her narration, no weird quirks or stumbles, she missed the mark with masculine and accents. Normally, I would be alright with a missed accent here or there, but seeing as this is a novel full of 'em, it was like a chunk of magic was missing and left Amon was a severe monotone. Again, Strole did alright, but it would be an improvement if she were to attempt an accent in book 2.
