Publisher's summary

This is the age of addiction, a condition so epidemic, so all-encompassing and ubiquitous, that unless you are fortunate enough to be an extreme case, you probably don't know that you have it. What unhealthy habits and attachments are holding your life together? Are you unconsciously dependent on food? Bad relationships? A job that doesn't fulfill you? Numb, constant perusal of your phone, looking for what? My qualification for writing this book is not that I am better than you, it's that I am worse. I am an addict, addicted to drugs, alcohol, sex, money, love and fame.

The program in Recovery has given Russell Brand freedom from all addictions, and it will do the same for you.

This system offers nothing less than liberation from self-centredness, a new perspective, freedom from the illusion of suffering for anyone who is willing to take the necessary steps.

If it works for Russell, it'll work for you

This book simultaneously captures the essence of how 12 Steps work, while being immensely entertaining.

Thank you Russell

loved this book... can be quite confronting, and yet truly eye opening. he inspires you to radically change your life and so you realise that addiction is a gift that forces you to radically change the way you live... to be more conscious, wiser and to live with virtue. And his humor helps make the topic less dense, less serious and the work more enjoyable

Wonderfully and brilliantly life changing

Life changing, impactful, engaging, Rhythmic, poetic. I laughed out loud, shed a tear, had epic realisations for myself and my close friends and family. I would recommend this to everyone, we’re all victims to this obscure thing we call reality - Russell helps take of the rose tinted specs and guides us humorously through his own life challenges and realisations and in turn empowers us to face our darkest fears. In one sentence: this is life changing

Revelatory!

Amazing content and very well presented. I was a little cautious at the beginning of this book but found the whole thing amazing in the end.

This will certainly be a book I recommend to others and come back to often.

Whistlestop tour past Depravity stn, Cravings park & Beatyourselfup St before grand Destination of Clean Central Station

Its hard to review this b/c the sun is in my eyes and Im going to the beach. Of note, I work in the business of spotting and canopening up the spaghetti of Addiction... Ecstatic that we finally have a an Ikea version of the Big Red Book and all in Native Essexian W Lovely purring vowels. Your own no holds barred 12 step pared back quick fix for the terminally addicted. Dunno if you will be able to handle the jandel though... you will have to download it and let your craven curiosity slurp it up. On another note, I liked it and I will be recommending it to the Elite set of those who cant say No....

Is it really freedom from your addictions then?

The book is great, so well presented and narrated... The author is highly intelligent individual and has great linguistic competence.
It is pleasure to listen to him.
But on the content level he himself still shares that he is battling the beast inside and does not know if he could manage. Anyway, he is an author to be thanked for exploiting the topic and sharing his personal experience.
In any case a very insightful and thought provoking book...

thank you

Recovery has been a very honest and relatable look at the 12 step program. I have heard of the steps before but it always seemed so grand and high minded that I believed it was to morally unattainable for this sinner. But after this book, it seems well worth another go. thank you.

Brilliant book.

I have a feeling the bad reviews are from people that can't be bothered to google words they don't understand or don't have much experience in dealing with the intense personalities that bipolar folk tend to have. Apart from the fame and herion I can relate to this man's experience and struggles on so many levels.
