Publisher's summary
After celebrating his birthday with a Monopoly-board pub crawl around London, he came to in a burger bar on one of Saturns moons, wearing a lady's pink crimplene hat and a pair of yellow fishing waders, with no money and a passport in the name of "Emily Berkenstein".
Joining the Space Corps seemed a good idea. Red Dwarf, a clapped out spaceship, was bound for Earth. It never made it, leaving Lister as the last remaining member of the human race, three million light years from Earth, with only a dead man, a senile computer, and a highly evolved cat for company.
They begin their journey home. On the way, they'll break the light barrier. They'll meet Einstein, Archimedes, God, and Norman Wisdom...and discover an alternative plane of reality.

An AI overseer and a human crew arrive on a distant planet to salvage an ancient UN starship. The overseer is unhappy. The crew, well, they're certainly no A-team. Not even a C-team on the best of days. And worse? Urmahon Beta, the planet, is at the ass-end of nowhere. Everybody expects this to be a long, ugly, and thankless job. Story
Once upon a time, in the magical land of San Francisco, there lived a not-so-ordinary girl named Laurel Pettigrew. She was supposed to be the Chosen One. The plan was simple: She would vanquish the great evil Tybus in an epic battle. But destiny had other ideas, and Laurel's performance in the whole heroics department was a colossal flop. Now, instead of being a legendary hero, Laurel's the resident pariah of the magic realm. And what’s worse, the dark wizard Tybus swooped in, took over the realm, and forced all supernatural creatures to live under his tyrannical rule.

Story
Churchill is Prime Minister for the last time. Rationing is still in force. All music sounds like the BBC Radiophonic Workshop. People like living in 1952: it's familiar and reassuring, and Britain knows its place in the world. Few have noticed it's been 1952 for the past 65 years. Meet Professor Quanderhorn; a brilliant, maverick scientific genius who has absolutely no moral compass. With his Dangerous Giant Space Laser, High Rise Farm, Invisible Robot and Fleet of Monkey-driven Lorries, he's not afraid to push the boundaries of science to their very limit.

Infinity Welcomes Careful Drivers read by Rimmer
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
An Excellent storyline read superbly by Chris Barrie (Rimmer)
What other book might you compare Red Dwarf to and why?
The Hitchhicker's Guide to the Galaxy is another great Science Fiction book/audiobook
Have you listened to any of Chris Barrie’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
I've also listened to Better Than Life and Chris Barrie was exceptional in both audiobooks
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Yes, and it was better than I thought it would be
Any additional comments?
If you like the Red Dwarf TV series then Infinity Welcomes to Careful Drivers and Better Than Life are a MUST. They fill in the gaps from seasons 1-4

Cut off in the middle of the story
If you could sum up Red Dwarf in three words, what would they be?
good but cut-off
What does Chris Barrie bring to the story that you wouldn???t experience if you just read the book?
He was very good
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
The ending... I guess it is a cliff hanger ending..
Any additional comments?
The book ended in the middle of the story.. It is a very good story so if you want to listen to it you will need to buy the second book Better than life.

So. Good. You won’t regret it.
This was such a fun listen. I’ve read the book many times, but this was a whole new experience. Chris Barrie NAILS it. He’s a great mimic and he smashes every voice. I can’t get over it. So. Good.

shipwrecked&comatose
If I had to be shipwrecked and comatose I'd love to have Chris Barrie (that brilliant impressionist) reading out the scripts of Red Dwarf while perfectly voicing each member of the crew. I only wish that Chris Barrie had more books on audible he is an utter delight to the ears.

In Space No One Can Hear You Smeg!!!
A classic Audio Production that needs more like it in the series to be offered on Audible.
Chris Barrie does a spectacular reading and does the impressions of his cast members don to a T.
We would welcome more of this to Audible

Must Listen for RD Fans!
Totally hilarious, just like the show in its glory days. Chris Barrie, Rimmer on the show, is the perfect narrator. Of course he can do Rimmer, but his impressions of Lister, the Cat, Holly and Kryten are spot on as well. This isn't just a novelization tie-in, this is a very enjoyable story in its own right. Do not miss!
