Publisher's summary

A boy and girl from different worlds will meet in yet another...

Eliza’s life has been fair. She’s got a good family, she’s the star of the basketball team, and Chris, her crush, is coming around. School’s a breeze—with exception to English class. English is more of a squall...but soon she’ll face much bigger strife than a blemished GPA.

For Milo, things have been harder. Talented though he is as an artist, his nerdy gamer reputation proceeds him, and, wholly lacking in confidence, he can’t imagine the likes of Eliza returning the feelings he’s fostered.

It won’t be until the two discover a gate to another, dangerous dimension that either can prove who they really are...or die, attempting to learn, themselves. While books will prove the portal to a place replete with creatures that are meant to be fictitious, it’s the exit bound to be a problem...bearing one solution: Eliza and Milo will never return, unless they solve the mystery of the fabled Red Ribbon Tree.

Fabulous story and the voices brings it to life

I really enjoyed this story, you quickly fall in love with the characters Milo and Eliza and cheer them along. I really like Milo, he is my kind of guy, sensitive, artistic and a bit of a nerd. I was really happy that the two of them got together by the end, such an enchanting read and listen. The author wrote an amazing story that takes you on a magical portal journey to Involutia where they have to battle to return out of the book. The actress who does the voices for the audio book is amazing, while some of the characters can get a little annoying in the way she reads them "the professor" and the "mom" voice come to mind, you still enjoy listening and being drawn into this magical world. I hung on every word from start to finish. I loved the different worlds they jumped in and out of and the time travel built into the story as well. Great descriptions of the world and action packed. I highly recommend listening or reading.

Interesting concept

High schoolers Milo and Eliza each receive a book with their names in it. These books transport them to a magical realm, where they become the main characters.

I was uncertain about this book for the first half. As much as I love romances, I didn't exactly like the blooming relationship between our leads. Milo just kept mentioning how hot Eliza looked, and Eliza herself didn't seem to care about a relationship. But then love factored into one part of their adventure, and suddenly love mattered to each of them.

I did like the twist that came near the end. I wasn't expecting it. I am a little disappointed that there isn't a sequel, simply due to a small prophetic story that was told. I'd love for Brittni to continue Milo and Eliza's story at some point!

Creative and Exciting

I was pleasantly surprised at how entertaining this book was. I laughed, cried and gasped. I couldn’t stop listening. The characters are your friends or people you may know. The author allowed me to see the different perspectives while making me feel like I was there too. This is a true gem. It is a coming of age story that the lessons could relate to anyone. I would recommend this book to middle school aged children as beyond. Many different age groups could relate to these characters and the fantasy comes alive. I can’t wait to see the author’s next book.

Enjoyable, well written story

I have read Brittni’s book Red Ribbon Tree and I really enjoyed the Audiobook. In the story, teens Eliza and Milo both find and open a mysterious book that turns out to be a portal to another world. They find themselves in a world where magical creatures like dragons exist and they meet interesting individuals such as a professor who seem to know more about the place than they do. I think it is an enjoyable short story and the narrator brings life into the characters. There are also some humorous places in the book as well.

Good story

The story was good, and a clean YA. I liked the story line. This is a book I would definitely recommend for my preteen child.

A Breathe of Fresh Air. A retelling of Alice.

This really reminded me of a familiar tale of Alice and Wonderland but with its own unique world building and characterization. Eliza and Milo are part typical teenager but part of them holds courage and wisdom beyond their years. The story telling and narration was so vivid that I felt as though I was there among the characters laughing and crying with them. The narration was also excellent evoking a different emotion with each persona the narrator took on. Overall, I'd highly recommend this to lovers of portal fantasy and those that want a quick and fun escape from the everyday.
