About this listen

"I'm not your savior."

I didn't want to be worshiped like some deity—an instant replacement for the asuras. For so long, these people looked up to the asuras as gods, but the asuras kept trying to kill them.

Arthur Leywin has finally returned to the continent of Dicathen, but his home is still firmly in the hands of the enemy. His display of unprecedented power brings hope to his allies and fear to his enemies. It also deeply embroils him in a conflict between the godlike asuras, with Agrona Vritra on one side and Kezess Indrath on the other.

With the crimes of his past life haunting him in the form of the Legacy, Arthur can no longer afford to hone only his strength. He must also empower those closest to him or risk losing them all.

Narration…..

The double narration was not the right call at all. If this was volume 1 I would maybe listen to it but vol 10 I almost want to skip chapters for the pure fact I can’t stay immersed when every female character sounds exactly the same and arts voice sounds like a 10 year old boy . 2 stars for performance bc Travis is the goat. 5 stars for story because it’s still amazing

Exactly what I’ve been waiting for!!!!

I was initially recommended these books by an audible rep and I was hesitant. A year later I am completely hooked!

I was a little worried when I saw two VA but it works. Although Travis is the GOAT.

I’ve listened to book 9 like 20 times in preparation for book 10 and I am excited to say that book 10 for sure fills the void everyone has been waiting for!

Switching narrators was the worst

Ever time it switches it gets so boring I just can’t with the female narrator. I could hear her take q breath after every word.

was reluctant at first…

When I saw that there were two V.A’s I was a little reluctant on if it was going to be difficult to have the same feel as the other books. I think it was smart to have the Travis narrate what the men were thinking and their perspectives and Elizabeth narrate what the women were thinking and their perspectives. Kept things simple I never had to rethink what character I was listening to.

The new narration format

Long time listener (& reader), first time reviewer. A fantastic adaptation for volume 10 of TBATE! I for one enjoyed the new format utilized for the narration. I have heard Travis speak on the troubles that arise from utilizing his voice for the female characters, which have become more common with characters like Caera, Ellie, and Cecilia taking a more prominent role in the story, and I understand why they made the choice to bring in another narrator for those POVs. In fact I really enjoyed Elizabeth Evans performance, and am interested in listening to some of her other work. As for Travis, what can I say, he did an amazing job as usual. Can’t wait for the next volume!

Loved it

Can’t wait for book 11. Narration swap was strange at first but I liked it. 10/10

Great story but not a fan of the many POVs

The story progresses slowly, which is fine since it is a great story. What I don’t like is the POV changing so frequently. That would be ok if the POV was important, but that is not always true. Also, the two narrators idea didn’t work. Both narrators are great, but now we have everyone with 2 voices, two intonations and inflections. It significantly detracts from the story. This book was great, but it could have been perfect.

Same reason as everyone else

I love this series, but the new narration threw me off. It might’ve been different had the whole series been narrated this way. Unfortunately, it was done this late in the game. It throws off the vibe for anyone. I powered through it, thankfully. But, there are some other series that have tried this and I completely stopped listening to them. It might have been smoother, had she only narrated the female characters and their point of view. Not trade off full chapters. That is what threw it off for me personally.

Elizabeth is a skilled narrator in her own right. She does an awesome job, and I would definitely listen to a book that she has strictly narrated herself. I only have the issue with the change up is all.

The book though, was awesome! I really enjoyed the growth and the support character growth as well. Another awesome job. I can’t wait for the next book!

Love this series.

The story continues to get better and better. I’m looking forward to next book. I have only one thing bad say. Don’t ever add the girl narration again. It was frustrating the way you guys did this. Keep it like the other books.

Great but ….

Everything was great just the whole switching narrators all thru was annoying like I enjoyed lady narrators voice when it came to woman characters but her guy voices weren’t great comparing her Arthur/grey with travis’s I don’t understand why she just didn’t do all the female characters when Travis was being the main narrator and him for her
