Twenty-five years after the publication of his groundbreaking first book, Malcolm Gladwell returns with “curiosity and humor” in this New York Times bestseller that reframes the lessons of The Tipping Point in a startling and revealing light (Shannon Carlin).

Why is Miami…Miami? What does the heartbreaking fate of the cheetah tell us about the way we raise our children? Why do Ivy League schools care so much about sports? What is the Magic Third, and what does it mean for racial harmony? In this provocative new work, Malcolm Gladwell returns for the first time in twenty-five years to the subject of social epidemics and tipping points, this time with the aim of explaining the dark side of contagious phenomena.

Through a series of riveting stories, Gladwell traces the rise of a new and troubling form of social engineering. He takes us to the streets of Los Angeles to meet the world’s most successful bank robbers, rediscovers a forgotten television show from the 1970s that changed the world, visits the site of a historic experiment on a tiny cul-de-sac in northern California, and offers an alternate history of two of the biggest epidemics of our day: COVID and the opioid crisis. Revenge of the Tipping Point is Gladwell’s most personal book yet. With his characteristic mix of storytelling and social science, he offers a guide to making sense of the contagions of modern world. It’s time we took tipping points seriously.

Editorial Review

What’s wrong with the world today?
I’m so excited to hear Malcolm Gladwell's latest audiobook, Revenge of the Tipping Point, which revisits and reframes his groundbreaking concepts from 25 years ago. The promise of gripping stories about everything from bank robbers to forgotten TV shows, combined with Gladwell's unique insights into social phenomena, has me eager to press play as soon as it hits my library. I'm particularly intrigued by how he'll explore the dark side of what he calls “contagious phenomena” and what new perspectives he'll offer on issues like the COVID pandemic and the opioid crisis. With all of the technological, political and social developments that have happened in the past two and a half decades, Gladwell’s newest listen couldn’t have come at a more critical cultural moment. — Rachael X., Audible Editor

Malcolm Gladwell does, as always, an excellent job illuminating connections between seemingly unrelated events. His many years working in the audio medium brings his newest book to life, I didn’t want to stop listening until the book ended. 10/10 Highly recommend.
On the rate occurrence that the author reads this review, my hometown which is named twice in the final chapter he pronounced perfectly. Once like I do, and once like other locals do. ❤️

Fascinating insight into things we thought we understood. I still refer to the original book often even after 25 years. I’m sure this will be the same.

If you have read or listen to Gladwell‘s books before, this is just another great book of his thinking, of his research, of his brilliance. It was hard to put down and anyone who listens or reads it. Will be both surprised and not surprised as it is with Gladwell’s books. Don’t hesitate to buy this. Well worth your time.

I loved this revisit of Tipping Point! The concept is so logical yet we need to hear Malcolm Gladwell’s comparative explanations of various scenarios and how the same logic applies. He lays out the book beautifully and makes for a very engaging read. Highly recommend!

Great follow up to Tipping Point!

Listening to Malcolm is like sitting down with a good friend and walking through multiple stories / threads that end up being woven into a consolidated story - the story ends up being a reflective mirror.

Power of the Story

I enjoyed each moment of this work. It was quite an interesting trail through seemingly dissimilar stories that wove together by the end of each chapter and the book as a whole.

Fascinating Information

As always with this author he has a great way of weaving facts and unknown stories (to me) to come to conclusions I might not have had until I read. Thank you
