About this listen

Ripley Brown had the kind of love that would last a lifetime. Until the night it died a tragic death, leaving her reeling and obliterating her ability to trust another man with her heart.

Brock James grew up in a home filled with violence and hate. He vowed never to be like his father, until the night he became even worse than the man. The night he destroyed everything.

Now, Brock is out of the military. He returns home, not expecting to see Ripley. He hasn't laid eyes on her since that fateful night, but even after six years, he knows exactly what he wants. It's time for Brock to face the demons of his past. The same demons that have been haunting Ripley all this time. Brock is determined to win Ripley back, but can she open her heart back up to the man who broke it? And even if she does - will Brock be able to forgive himself for hurting the only person who ever mattered?

Hits in all the feels!

You just to see how the far reaching affects of your actions! The dual narration worked well for this story. Can Brock convince Ridley to over come their past?

Moving and Emotional

I really didn’t think I’d enjoy this story as much as I did. It’s going to stick with me for a while. Forgiveness, heartache, new beginnings, old wounds. All the emotions. I couldn’t put this story down. I’m so glad I was introduced to this author and this great story.

One Night Can Change Everything

This was my first Evan Grace book and I look forward to more of her stories. This is a gripping tale of young love, trauma and destiny. It centers on the long reaching effects our actions and decisions can have on ourselves including the ones we love. I listened to this book and enjoyed the narrators storytelling.

Loved

I was excited for this book to be on audible. I wasn’t a huge fan of Sam Smith and how he voiced certain characters.

Great listen!!!

**Review of the audiobook**

STORY
Having never read anything by Evan Grace before, I was thrilled when I was immediately sucked into this story! Unfortunately, like with many stories romances, one of the characters flees from the relationship for fear of hurting the other even though they’re both madly in love with each other. Aside from that minor annoyance, the storyline was fantastic! It’s not all that unique or innovative but it is certainly very well told and super entertaining.

PERFORMANCE
I listened to the audiobook narrated by Marnye Young and Sam Smith. This is my favorite type of audio book, a true duet where the male narrator reads for all of the male characters and the female narrator reads for all of the female character parts. I loved the back-and-forth of the two voices, especially considering how talented both of these narrators are. I’m absolutely certain that their performances enhanced how much I enjoyed this audiobook! There are several characters in this book and both narrators made obvious attempts to alter their voice for each of them, helping listeners differentiate between them all. The only complaint I have about this performance is that there were a few occasions where the production wasn’t perfect. For example, there is one scene where both the narrator’s voices sound muffled and there were a few times where the volume went from high, to low then back to high again. Although this was noticeable, it luckily wasn’t ever too distracting.

Although I didn’t love the slight accent Smith used while reading for Jonah, he does an excellent job with his other parts. Ms. Young on the other hand absolutely blew me away; I have nothing but positive things to say about her flawless, convincing, exceptionally talented performance! I would be very surprised if Young hasn’t had years and years of extensive acting lessons… Her voice just drips with emotion (when necessary and appropriate) and she does things such as slightly chuckle, sigh or pause in all the right places – she’s just amazing!

Simply Amazing!

Wow, just wow! Ripley is the sheet definition of strength and perseverance. I don't know many people that would have survived what she went through. She and Brock were meant to be.

Did not like the main male character.

3.5 stars. So I'm going to vent here. I don't think I've ever despised a main male character so much. Brock had no redeeming qualities.. None! He was just as bad as his father and he was a rapist. Brock was also a spineless coward. He repeatedly said he couldn't be mean to or hurt his ex-girlfriend but treats the supposed love of his life like a doormat and after he destroyed her to start with? He also repeatedly thinks to himself that he wished he felt more for said ex but Ripley is his soul mate...wow that's exactly how I wish the love of my life would feel.....yeah NOT! All that, aside from the fact that he ran out on her after graduation to start with, after breaking her face. Onto Ripley, my heart broke for her, yet I wish she would have had more spine when Brock showed up. So much happened to her. Brock was 100% correct when he said he didn't deserve her. The other characters were great, I loved Jonah, Alex, the parents and especially Tiny, (rapist excluded). The narrators done a great job in bringing the characters alive. Lots of feels in this book (mostly anger for me). Good read and or listen.

Wonderful story

In my opinion it got a little wordy but I don’t know what I would cut out because it made the story believable. Great listen.
