Publisher's summary

From the number-one New York Times best-selling author of the Princess Diaries series comes the very first adult installment, which follows Princess Mia and her Prince Charming as they plan their fairy-tale wedding - but a few poisoned apples could turn this happily ever after into a royal nightmare.

For Princess Mia the past five years since college graduation have been a whirlwind of activity, what with living in New York City, running her new teen community center, being madly in love, and attending royal engagements. And speaking of engagements. Mia's gorgeous longtime boyfriend, Michael, managed to clear both their schedules just long enough for an exotic (and very private) Caribbean island interlude where he popped the question! Of course Mia didn't need to consult her diary to know that her answer was a royal oui.

But now Mia has a scandal of majestic proportions to contend with: Her grandmother's leaked fake wedding plans to the press that could cause even normally calm Michael to become a runaway groom. Worse, a scheming politico is trying to force Mia's father from the throne, all because of a royal secret that could leave Genovia without a monarch. Can Mia prove to everyone - especially herself - that she's not only ready to wed but ready to rule as well?

Enjoyed listening

I skipped through parts of the beginning.. Her detailed grocery lists were so boring and I'm still not sure why they wasted time reading them. But the story gets better after that and the narrator has a nice, peppy voice and I enjoyed it. For whatever reason I kept thinking Michael was going to be more of a main character or cause a plot shift, but he was just in and out of scenes. I would be interested to read the next book if there was one.

Happiness only!

Rarely does a book come along that you want to listen to over and over again. For me, this is on repeat in my car. It is happy, upbeat, and has a few unexpected twists. I loved that I haven't read one of her books in years, but I easily caught up on the story.

I also loved it because the characters are my age. I may not be a princess, but I still deal with many of the things Mia deals with; balancing a career, a boyfriend, and sometimes overbearing family members. It's nice to feel comraderie with characters.

This book made me laugh, smile, and think about what is really important in life. I didn't cry, but that wasn't what I was looking for in this book anyways.

Great work from Meg Cabot!

loved it

great ending to a series that followed from teen to adulthood. loved the narrator. i think it's a good thing they switch her, because mia is a grown up and not a teenager anymore.

She's back!!!

The Princess Mia we grew up with is back and as charming as ever. But her insecurities have been dialed back in a refreshing and necessary way - hope it rubs off!!

Application for Genovian Citizenship

It was so nostalgic to read another Princess Diaries book and find out where all the characters are now, all grown up and going through the same things I'm going through in my life right now. Well same, without all the royal stuff and family drama. I love the way Meg Cabot has such a strong voice for Mia, and how it all ended happily ever after. Even if the storylines where somewhat predictable, it was never less entertaining. I wish the book was longer so I could continue on living vicariously through Mia's life. I hope there will be more books in the future! And also, can I move to Genovia too? I'm sure the palace has a spare bedroom somewhere... I can be a nanny! haha

Loved going back

I enjoyed visiting Mia and seeing where she is again all these years later. I felt like the story was a bit rushed and wish that there had been more details about her wedding and the moments leading up to it. Honestly, I wish that it had been split into two books to accommodate it. I did not enjoy the performance of Arielle DeLisle, she changed the voices of key characters such as Tina and Lily and it didn't sound like them for the past audiobooks. While I understand that each narrater has their way of doing things I found it off putting since Lily has always been portrayed to have a deeper voice with a sense of authority and Tina has always had a higher voice with a bit of dreamy tone. Grand-mère and Prince Philippe accents have suddenly been dropped and it's just a mess in my opinion it messes with the continuity of story in audiobook form. I wish that the accents and voices from the past books had been respected. I do not like Arielle DeLisle narration, I much prefer Clea Lewis.

I loved this one

The first time I read this book I fell in love with it. Since I decided to go through all the audiobooks I was excited for this one and adult Mia. I really did enjoy this reader but her not giving Grandmere her accent REALLY threw me off. It kind of confused me on dialogue sometimes. I am excited for the next one as I read the postings during the pandemic. I really hope there are more books.

Amazing conclusion to amazing series

This is a great conclusion to one of my favorite series. If you have read the other Princess Diaries books, you can’t miss this one.

Nostalgic

I loved listening to this book because I love this series. I was dying for an update about Mia's life. despite that, the narrator didn't do a good job at all. Her voice wasn't a good match to Mia in my opinion, and she didn't differentiate well enough all the different voices.
Of course this book is a bit predictable, but so what?? I loved getting back into HRH Mia's world.
