About this listen

Higher, farther, faster - what every real aviator aspires to. The SR-71 was the epitome of this dream for three decades. The only way to beat the SR-71 was to rocket into space, and every astronaut in the office with me in the 1960s would have loved to have flown the Blackbird. In many ways it placed greater demand on piloting proficiency than any spacecraft. Terry's book answers all those questions you ever had about the wonderful challenge of controlling an airplane, flying at 80,000 feet and more than three times the speed of sound for hours at a time.

Good; however it could have been great

The story, format, and narration is very good; however portions of the book are redundant. In-addition, the index, glossary, and picture review add an additional hour to the listen.

SAD

Should still be flying, what a shame to that beaurcrats have no business deciding greatness.

A legendary pilot

A great pilot who wrote a great story and answered questions that no one else could have. I found this book maturative and developmental and generally worthwhile to listen to. I further highly recommend this book.

Great in sight on life and times of Blackbird crew

Great story. Good anecdotes with real depth. A bit repetitive at times, but this is more a function of similar questions being asked and answered. Well worth the time investment esp. Pappas allows the casual observer to step into an active duty squadron, and strap into Habu, for a wild ride into aviation history.

A One day listening event.

Best aircraft ever built. Will search for more information. A shame the program was decommissioned.

More please!!!

Great book, great highlights. I'd love to hear Terry's whole story. Please write a book that takes us into his life, his experiences, his victories behind the stick.
I suspect there are some amazing stories out there that the sr71 team needs to cough up before we start to lose that amazing time in the usaf history. These guy are the real RIGHT STUFF. I look forward to more... Please. :-)

Outstanding Story

Very interesting story. Would have been nice to see accompanied photos. Puts you in the minds of the pilots.

Presentation lacking but content awesome

Any additional comments?

Q&A isn't the way I prefer any of this information, but any information on the Blackbird is jaw-dropping and satisfying. As Q&A goes it's fine but I'd prefer a straight book. That said if you're interested in the Blackbird it won't disappoint you. There is a top-notch book on the X-15 Rocket Plane if you're into related subject matter.
