One of my favorite King books

Any additional comments?

This is King in his original form. This is what made him famous! I loved this book and hope he does something similar for this to what he did with The Shining and Doctor Sleep. Great from beginning to end!

Not bad but not the best

I LOVE Stephen King books and I purchased this one thinking it would be as good as the others I've read. I have to say, it was ok. I'm not sure if it's because I'm not a vampire fan but, I had to push myself a bit in order to finish the story. To me, it seemed like it dragged on. I didn't like the characters, could have been that they weren't developed enough for me. Plus, it took so long to get to the plot of the story. I don't think I'll be reading this book again.

A classic!

An oldie but a goodie! As far as Stephen King's books go, this is one of my favorites. While his style feels less developed than his later works, there are underlying themes in this story that carry into his others and, for me, are some of the most powerful themes King has written about.

It has a fun and classic horror story, as well as moments of terror and suspense that build upon a person's inner fears, more than relying on simple jumps scares. For me, any story that makes a person contemplate themselves and their own fears more than the monsters in the book is doing it right.

Excellent book about vampires.

One of better S.K. books. I was suprised that he menaged to keep me tense for most parts of the book since its about vampires. Every S.K fan should read it.

Horror Classic Made Even "Classic-er."

I first read this book when I was fourteen and it scared the socks off me. To this day it remains one of my all-time favorite horror novels. Ron McLarty's narration takes this classic and kicks it up a notch, giving voice to characters who have haunted my dreams for three decades. I love this audiobook and highly recommend it to fans of the genre.

Terrifying

My mom read this book in college and she always enjoys horror. She is the reason I love horror. Although it is slow to build it is perfect for the story. Getting to know the characters and then to the build of fear of possibility. I have never enjoyed listening so thoroughly. The narrator does an ex

Pleasantly surprised

Well written as always, however King certainly took his time getting into the "meat" of the story. Being in fairly patient while reading novels, this didn't bother me. However I can see how many people would share that criticism. King always does a brilliant job of illustrating the "monster" and this is certainly no exception. This is how vampires were meant to be portrayed.

Really enjoyed the story! Not as scary as I hoped

I am still on the hunt for a book that truly scares me. I am definitely a fan girl of the horror movie genre, but I have definitely read my fair share of horror novels, so maybe it just takes more for me to become scared. This story was still amazing though, and I am so glad I finally got to hear it. Truly a classic.

Not that scary.

Wasn't as scary as I remembered the tv series to be from when I was a kid. I'm finding that I like SK books better in audio though for some reason. Seems I always struggled to get through his long winded ness while reading but listening is like a really good story. Hard to explain.
Anyway this book was good but it's just hard to scare me nowadays.

Ron Mclarty

Ron did a great job narrating this imo. He used different voices for characters and had plenty of inflation.
