Critic reviews

“A master storyteller.” (The Los Angeles Times)

“Stephen King has built a literary genre of putting ordinary people in the most terrifying situations. . . . He’s the author who can always make the improbable so scary you'll feel compelled to check the locks on the front door.” (The Boston Globe)

Classic King

I haven't read this book since I was a kid and it's always been my favorite King story. Thought I'd give it a whirl on Audible. Not only is it still my favorite, the performance knocked it out of the park. Love, love, LOVE IT!!!

My favorite read!

Salem’s Lot is the best book I’ve ever read. The first time I read it was in 1978. I was reading The Shining at that time when a friend suggested I read Salem’s Lot because, as good as The Shining was, Salem’s Lot was better. I found this to be true! I love Stephen Kings writings and this was his best by far. When reading it transports you inside the story. .You’ve come a part of it; not just an outsider. His ( King’s ) writing style is magical. I’ve read this book three times and the Audible version just once. The narration was superb!

Stephen gives life to the undead!

Please understand that if you are looking for something shallow without good characterization, read something else! Stephen never fails to give each character a depth, a backstory, real emotions. These people you might know yourself! I am a fan for life-since the 70s, and this one is slightly better now than when I first read it! Thank you, Stephen, for giving us interesting, depth-filled chacters all of these years! Ron McLarty is a master! I’m so sad he is gone!

Good but rushed

This is a good book overall, but the first 8-9 hours is just character introduction and then the last 4-5 hours are rushed and details are completely skipped over. The only way i feel like i am able to describe it is that you had a homework assignment that you had 1 month to complete and worked really hard the first week did nothing the next two weeks and scrambled to finish it the last week.

Many years ago, this was the first Stephen King book I read. It still gives me chills to this day.

Awesome narration! Awesome book.

I’m commenting on this book since the narration was SO good! I loves all the characters the narrator created vocally. I love Stephen Kings books, they are my “go to” but this narration stood out.
I was hooked from the start , great writing and story amplified by the reading. Great job! Thank you!

Classic vampire story

Stephen King writes a thrilling tale of vampires in Salem's Lot. It's a bone chilling, edge of your seat tale for those of us who love the classsic vampire story. Loved this book!

Creepy cool!

Old school horror at its best! Loved this creepy little gem! Better than Dracula in my opinion!

Wow

Even after knowing the story from previous books and tv shows, I was still wrapped within the characters. Just King’s amazing way to make the reader feel the fear, and the hope in the story
