About this listen
Boxed set of the complete "Samantha Moon Case Files" series of time travel mysteries, including:
MOON BAYOU (Book 1)
Samantha Moon loses everything―her kids, her beloved, the very unlife she knows―when a powerful curse catapults her backward in time, to Louisiana during the days of Marie Laveau.
Though she pines for the familiar world of the present, Samantha must move fast; after all, the superhuman vampiric abilities she relied on in prior cases have been compromised by the curse, leaving her vulnerable to a new kind of lurking evil...
Now, her talents as a private investigator will be ever more critical. Can Samantha Moon unlock the key to the past and return to her present, or will she forever remain ancient history?
BLOOD MOON (Book 2)
Summer is a great time to visit scenic Richmond, Virginia—except during the start of the American Civil War.
After her attempt to save a young woman goes disastrously wrong, Samantha Moon has wound up trapped in 1862 with no way home to her children. The great, great-granddaughter of the Voodoo priestess who hurled her back in time refuses to undo the spell. Worse, the few friends she’d made in the past have seen her true nature. Despite saving their lives, Sam parts ways to spare their sanity.
Alone, Sam follows a rumor to Richmond. Hoping this supposed mystic can help her return home, she rushes headlong into the onset of the Civil War. Trying to convince an alchemist who is morbidly afraid of vampires to help one would be daunting enough even without a war going on. In the chaos of battle, her best hope disappears.
Heedless of what damage she may do to the nation’s timeline, Sam can’t turn her back on those in need. Alas, Elizabeth senses her increasing desperation and plies the temptation of bloody wounded everywhere.
Sam’s already lost in time, but if she’s not careful, she may lose her soul as well.
PARALLEL MOON (Book 3)
Samantha Moon is about to discover that going back in time comes with some complications. Like having two memories of returning home from the Civil War.
With no explanation for why a second memory appears, Sam is left contemplating the nature of time itself, parallel worlds, and a love that might have been. Along with her own sanity.
After all, this second memory feels just as real as the first. Perhaps even more so. In fact, she’s dead certain she investigated the murder of three men, uncovered a plot to assassinate Abraham Lincoln, and battled a pack of bloodthirsty werewolf spies.
Samantha may not know why this alternate memory has appeared, but she does know one thing: it all begins on a train...

Story
Ryland Grace is the sole survivor on a desperate, last-chance mission - and if he fails, humanity and the Earth itself will perish. Except that right now, he doesn't know that. He can't even remember his own name, let alone the nature of his assignment or how to complete it. All he knows is that he's been asleep for a very, very long time. And he's just been awakened to find himself millions of miles from home, with nothing but two corpses for company.

It’s 1984, and life has changed beyond recognition. Airstrip One, formerly known as Great Britain, is a place where Big Brother is always watching, and nobody can hide. Story
Jazz Bashara is a criminal. Well, sort of. Life on Artemis, the first and only city on the moon, is tough if you're not a rich tourist or an eccentric billionaire. So smuggling in the occasional harmless bit of contraband barely counts, right? Not when you've got debts to pay and your job as a porter barely covers the rent. Everything changes when Jazz sees the chance to commit the perfect crime, with a reward too lucrative to turn down.

Story
Two astronomers have detected a strange, pulsing signal from deep space. Within hours, the US government goes into lockdown, restricting airspace and scrubbing scientific data. Hard to follow with AI
Ai voice does not distinguish characters and is difficult to dive into the story. Sad…

the entire Samantha Moon vampire for hire
I really really liked the series, would have liked it better if it wasn't virtual voice but I still liked it. And I would still recommend it to read.

Too bad it wasn’t narrated by a voice actor
The story is quite good, but the experience was thoroughly tarnished by a computer generated voice and no care for editing the “performance” or quality control. Words like P.I. as in private investigator are not pie the desert. Weird pauses, occasional horrible pronunciations, and most importantly, absolutely no distinction between speakers during conversational passages leaves the listener struggling to figure out who is saying what.
Nothing beats a real narrator, and Audible should be ashamed of thinking this was a close enough substitute to pass.

I enjoyed the story very much
This is the first AI generated narration I've listened to & it is VERY lacking compared to human narration. It was very flat & there was no attempt at different voices or accents.

stop using AI voice
an abomination of a voice, can distinctly hear the melded cacophony of multiple voice piches, add to that the AI doesn't understand a stutter and literally says "W" who? I really tried to give it a go and made it half way into the second book but could not stand any more as the multi-pich was giving me headaches.

Enjoyed all 3 books
I have learned to appreciate what others are doing that I am not and that last thing that I try to do is be critical. I really enjoyed have the story line traveled through time and back. And I really appreciated that this wasn’t just a Vampire story in the since that it focused on other aspects of Vampires than just blood. 😂 Thank you
