Publisher's summary

Sanditon - an eleven-chapter fragment left at Jane Austen's death completed by an Austen devotee and novelist - is a charming addition to Austen's novels on England's privileged classes and the deception, snobbery, and unexpected romances that occur in their world.

When Charlotte Heywood accepts an invitation to visit the newly fashionable seaside resort of Sanditon, she is introduced to a full range of polite society, from reigning local dowager Lady Denham to her impoverished ward Clara, and from the handsome, feckless Sidney Parker to his amusing, if hypochondriac, sisters. A heroine whose clear-sighted common sense is often at war with romance, Charlotte cannot help observing around her both folly and passion in many guises. But can the levelheaded Charlotte herself resist the desires of the heart?

So sad to come to the end

Only 12 original chapters, and no knowing what final revisions would entail, but still very enjoyable. Jane Austen remains unequaled till this day. narration is enjoyable as well

Poor audio quality

The last 15 minutes skip badly. I’ve never had this issue with a book on Audible before.

What Could Have Been

In just these few Chapters you can see the Brilliance of what could have been. Beautiful narration. It is in English even though the This Audible before story and Thank you after is in German????,

Where is the rest?

I had thought the story had been completed by another author. I’m a bit confused.

Wish there was more but still an enjoyable listen

I bought this to listen to the novel as started by Jane Austen since I am watching the PSB version of Sanditon that was released in the U.S. this month, January 2020. It was good to hear Austen's fragment and compare it to what is happening in the TV Series. I enjoyed the discussion between Mr. Parker and Charlotte's father Mr. Heywood about why Mr. Parker was in the wrong Willingden in the first place. Great narration.

Not good

I thought I'd purchased one of the finished version. This is like a cliff hanger

Unfinished story with Awful Narrator voice

Please realize that this is an unfinished story by Jane Austin! I believe it would have been a great one if finished. Also beware - the narrator’s voice is unbearable!!! I do not recommend this recorded version! Don’t waste your money.
