LOVED it! Awesome story and narration.

What did you love best about Scars?

It was a believable and Biblical, albeit fictional, portrayal of the end times.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Becky-- I don't want to include any spoilers, so I'll let the reader/listener understand by using one word: FAITH.

What about Kris Faulkner’s performance did you like?

The characters were portrayed very well through the narrator (even the accents!) and this packed a lot of emotion. It kept me engaged throughout. Kris Faulkner has a voice that is pleasant to listen to for hours at a time. It isn't easy to find that (lol).

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

The end, especially. And a scene between Becky and her mother which I viewed to be tragic. The portrayal of the death camp was close to what I've imagined them to be like.

Any additional comments?

This book is encouraging and awakening. It should be experienced by adults and teens alike.

Great book!

Loved this book so much that I’m listening to it again! Doesn’t talk about the rapture but does walk through the deception that will happen. Appreciate that there is no rated R parts for ratings but sticks to the tribulation from a 16 yr old girl journey. Loved the boldness this character developed- boldness we all need.
Great book. Book two picks up from here from Brocks view. I can’t wait for another in the series!
Thank you!

Great book, definitely worth getting.

I absolutely enjoyed this book. It’s not a long lesson but definitely has a great message to it. I would recommend it to people above the age of 13. I am thankful the author was so descriptive. Although blind, I got a very good visual idea of things in this book. This author is quite amazing. I would recommend anything by her.

Pointless Christian Lit

Scars is a fundamentally pointless story about how true the bible is.

A new saviour has risen to world power and teenager Becky knows he’s actually the anti-Christ.

The story consists of Becky recounting the world’s trip to hell in a hand basket as Earth falls under the spell of false prophets and deceitful messiahs. It is brief on the interesting aspects such as massive changes to world rule, currency, law etc and heavy on bible verses.

Even if you happen to believe, it doesn’t excuse the unimaginative, poorly written and unevenly paced story that lacks any kind of dramatic tension.

I don’t happen to believe which, yes, means this book automatically has an uphill battle with me. But the fact that there is no real conflict to fuel the story just makes it, as I said, pointless.

Becky knows the new messiah is the antichrist because she read it in the bible and everything the bible said came true – all the signs, the omens, everything. The story is a literal re-telling of the coming of the anti-Christ set in modern days.

Now if the story had some spine, was a debate, or perhaps dealt with Becky questioning her belief or reconciling her faith in a being that would let this happen or just coming to terms with the fact her faith will see her martyred ,well that would be something. It would be interesting at least.

Unfortunately, though, Scars lacks any kind of focus other than re-telling the bible for profit.
