Publisher's summary

An incredible power has awakened in Rekco—something beyond his comprehension—something that could change the fate of all those around him. Searching for the Eminent: The Collapse of Reality concludes the story of Last Thesi and the mysteries surrounding the Eminent, revealing all truths—for better, or worse.

After a cataclysmic event shakes the foundation of Last Thesi to its core, the leader of the Runic Guard finally reveals themselves, assuring the surviving citizens that the apocalypse has come and gone—that the madness is over. Many of the people rejoiced, ready to move on with their lives. All the while, Cathy, Rekco, and Kyoku embark upon their own quests; Cathy begins preparations for a new plan to save the city; Rekco seeks to master his newfound powers, determined that they will lead him to his father and the truth of all things; Kyoku sets off to investigate a new threat—one far greater than any of them could imagine.

With the three of them now on separate paths, estranged from one another, both their friendships and their resolves will be tested. Will any of them have the power to break the binds of destiny and save Last Thesi, or is its fate truly preordained?

The Best In The Series

4.75 out of 5 stars

The last time I wrote a review (for book two in the series), I talked about how intimidating it was to write one of the first reviews on a platform for the book. I’m doing a similar thing here.

Going three books into a series – I’ve obviously enjoyed them all. Each book has added something more while also building on the things North introduced in the first two books. In The Collapse of Reality, North really steps it up a notch. An absolute blast of a book. And one that I flew through, even given its 12+ hour length. North did a good job writing characters, events, situations, and worlds that were interesting and made me want to read more.

I thought that this book was probably the best in the series. North keeps getting better as an author, and his work really starts to shine about halfway through book two and throughout The Collapse of Reality.

North’s character-building is likely the best part of these stories. He created characters that I just wanted to do well, which is awesome because that doesn’t always happen in epic stories like this one. Sometimes the characters take a back seat to the action or the world – but they are on full display here.

Overall, I thought, combined with the performance from Scott Fleming, Search for the Eminent: The Collapse of Reality was the best in the series. A blast from beginning to end.

Secrets Revealed

The truths of the mysteries around the Eminent and fate being preordained are about to be revealed! Rekco, Cathy, and Kyoku each have their own quests to fulfill. Together they were formidable, apart their strength, faith, and friendship will be tested. Each quest has its own purpose and each of the three friends will have difficult decisions to make. Ultimately, they must discover if the fate of the Last Thesi is changeable.

The author, Marvin North delivers an exciting, suspenseful, and danger-filled conclusion to this series. North continues to weave the story of the Last Thesi, Rekco, Cathy, and Kyoku in an exciting and conclusive manner. Vivid imagery is used to capture the imagination as well as well-developed and evolving characters. The storyline moves forward at a steady pace with some plot twists that are unexpected. The interaction with the celestial beings at the end gives food for thought.

The narrator, Scott Fleming speaks clearly and brings the characters to life. His unique voices help keep the story flowing and identify the characters easily. His cadence is smooth and consistent. Scott Fleming has been these characters since book 1 and each time he brings the characters to life.

This is a satisfying ending to the series, although, like all good books, the listener hopes for one more.
