Details about some battles.

This book helped me understand about the war from beginning to end. There are quotes from men who actually fought in various battles. This really brings home the terrible price of war. The book gives details about various battles and the great casualties we took. I found the book to be very informative, a great read. It is disturbing at times to realize the price we paid in American lives. It certainly convinces one that war should be avoided unless absolutely necessary.

Informative as well as entertaining

I am a a big WWII buff and thoroughly enjoyed this. In my view it is informative with many stories about things which I had never before heard and was also entertaining at the same time. Anyone who wants to learn more than that history classes teach in school should get this.

Great item for those who love history.

Very interesting. I must not have listened to history years ago in school because beyond it being interesting (and I don't necessarily have a keen interest in history - hence my not listening in school years ago), I am learning a lot.

The prose is well written allowed easy reading.

This history of World War II, which is an edited, expanded version of the original Henry Steele Commanger work, is outstanding in detail. It holds your attention, yet is filled with statistics and facts, many of which are no longer remembered. I recommend this work most highly to anyone interested in the world at war, 1939-1946.

You should definitely listen to this book

The amount of research and information of World War II has been so gratifying and the details of the reports love the book and the narrator, one of the best Spanish book on WWII.

Finely Detailed Summary of WW II

This book was endorsed by documentation Ken Burns as his "walk around daily source" for his film on World War II. No more need be said, except that I find it highly readable and laced with quotations from individuals who were on the scene during the war.
