Publisher's summary

Investment banker Conner Ashby is doing all right for himself - until he receives a wayward e-mail...and is plunged into a terrifying nightmare. It's a communication not meant for Conner's eyes, about a company engaged in corporate fraud on a massive scale. With millions of dollars at stake and hell to pay if the truth comes out, whoever clicked the send button by mistake isn't about to take any chances.

Following a trail of misdeeds that stretches nationwide, Conner slowly uncovers a shocking agenda. Surviving will mean struggling to expose the plot as relentlessly as his shadowy enemies seek to conceal it - and fighting for his life as ruthlessly as those determined to end it.

Critic reviews

"Frey has the undeniable ability to explain complex financial transactions while at the same time providing plenty of action and nuggets of insider money lore." ( Publishers Weekly)
"Harrowing....Stephen Frey enlivens finance the way Patricia Cornwell does forensic science and the way Dan Brown ( The Da Vinci Code) does medieval studies." ( Forbes)

Not Frey's best, but still a great read!

I used my monthly one free book for this book and I don't regret it! The story wasn't the most compelling, at times it felt sort of forced, as if the author is fishing for new material but it's also very educational about one of the many ways a business can commit fraud.
The voice acting was also very well done. The narrator did a good job of giving depth to all the characters.
Overall, 4/5!

Lost in translation

Content was pretty good, and lots of action throughout, but the reader trivialized it. Not a good choice for an otherwise interesting listen.

Pretty good plot

Sometimes a little unbelievable, but a good story nonetheless. The reader’s voice made it difficult to get through. Distinct lack of versatility in his voice made most characters sound exactly the same and his almost violent diction required a ton of patience to stick with the story

Great financial drama

Stephen Frey knows how to piece a story together to keep you guessing until the end.

Absolutely dreadful

Poorly written, even more poorly narrated, this is the only audiobook I have ever downloaded that I haven't finished. The characters were not likable, I couldn't have cared less what happened to them, and the story dragged on with incomprehensible plot twists. The narrator is absolutely awful too. All in all, I'd recommend passing on this one.
