It's ok

Audio books depend on the quality of the narrator. This narrator is OK. He doesn't have great range. Men and female characters
sound the same and his accent need work.

Doesn't get darker than this

One of the reasons I like Sandford's "Prey" series is because of their darkness and the evil of their criminal characters. With that said, this second-in the-series went a bid overboard. There is even one presumed "good guy" in the bunch who turns out to be more evil (in my view) than the real bad guys. I don't remember what, if anything" happens with Lily in future Prey installments. I have read many of them but it's quite possible that I missed the one, if any, that brought back Lily. Seems very logical though that she was a recurring character. Maybe she was short lived. Sandford reveals at the end that he rewrote the first draft of this book because it was more of a social statement than a thriller. I'm glad he did. Not his best in the series, but if you like Lucas, you'll enjoy this listen. And Richard Ferrone is the perfect narrator for this series. The book gets four stars. Ferrone gets five stars.

Too much on sex scenes

There are too many and too much detail in sex scenes. Good book but feels like cheap romance novel with “throbbing members” for about 10% of book.

Would recommend.

GREAT STORY, UNTIL ENDING, LUCAS HAS ZIPPER ISSUE

THE STORY IS SPELLBING, AND LUCAS AT HIS BEST UNTIL HIS HE IS JOINED BY LILLY. FIRST, WE SEE THE TYPICAL NEW YORKER. SHE KNOWS EVERYTHING, AND LUCAS IS HER SUBORDINATE. FINALLY, SHE IS PUT IN HER PLACE. I AM NO PRUDE, UN FACT, FAR FROM IT, BUT RUINING SOMEONES LOVE LIFE DOES NOT MAKE ME FELL TOO GOOD ABOUT HIM.

Mediocre story inconsistently performed.

The first 3/4 of the book was very slow. The final 1/4 was more like a thriller. The motivations and conspiracy were vague. what bothered me most was the narrator's inconsistent voices for the characters! sometimes Davenport's voice was deep and Daniels' voice was higher pitched and nasal, then they would switch!!!! Be consistent!

Too many characters

Good story but slow starter. Too many characters to keep track of. Should have used a native Indian for those speaking parts.

A Thriller Indeed

Sucked into the story immediately and held hostage to it all the way to the end. And a great narrator too.

Great thriller but romance not

This is suppose to be a thriller not a romance. Lucas is a strong character but his many hooks ups have nothing to do with the story, I could care less how many women he takes to be, how many he goes back to and leaves his poor babies mama hanging, no wonder she doesn't want to get married. The really big issue I have is there is to much add ons or filler that have nothing to do with this store. It would be a great listen if it wasn't for all of that. The characters are good, it is an exciting story with lots of thrills, so close calls and some dead. I really don't care that they had sex in a park or where ever it was, all the Indiana's clapping really trashed the store. Is it going to be a thriller, suspense or romance, I won't even call it romance.

The narrator did a good job, this character voices are close together, some times it is hard to understand who is talking. But all in all he did good, his emotions was good, I didn't hear any repeating of words, no background noise, no volume changes.

I have more of this authors to listen to but if it is trashy sex and running around on the one you are suppose to be with it will be the last one I listen to of this author. If I wanted this type of stuff I would get a romance.

Loved it!

Loved it! John Sanford never disappoints. I have been reading the Prey series for well over 20 years. I recently started reading them over again from the beginning, so I could make sure I didn't miss any along the way. Just as awesome the second time around!
