Publisher's summary

An epic adventure. Mysterious circumstances. Fun. Dark and steamy. Blending the best of adult paranormal romance and urban fantasy...you don't want to miss this series.

A violent storm. Unending night...Violet Archer is running through the darkness for her very life.

A single spark blazes, calling to her. It is her chance at salvation. It is a connection beyond any she could have ever imagined. And it leads her to a lonely cabin in the woods.

But when Violet wakes, she has no memory of how she got there. She is disturbingly ill. And a chilling evil creeps through her veins. Worse still, her host, the tall and powerful Elijah Stone, is intent on killing her. Yet a cataclysmic bond, neither can deny, stays Elijah’s hand.

Radiants, immortals of the Light, have been warring with their enemies, the Shadows, for millennia. Now, twisted together by fate, the two adversaries must embark on a journey. One on which their very lives depend. Unfortunately for Violet, she does not know who she can trust, especially when it comes to her guide, Elijah.

But it turns out that Violet and Elijah are not alone on their quest. They soon realize they are being hunted along the way. It seems Violet has a dark debt to settle.

And someone very dark, indeed, is about to collect his due.

Adult novel. Contains mature and explicit content.

So Fun!

Love this one! Can't wait for book 2! There's just a little bit of everything: mystery, action, suspense, adult romance, fantasy, general badass-ery. And the tone is fresh and relatable. It doesn't have that older cheesy kind of tone that some romance novels do. Great start to a series!

I tried

I wanted to like this book so much and I really tried. I finished it but I just didn't enjoy it like I thought I would. I liked the narration but the story just didn't hold my interest.

Hang in there for the rest of the series

The first book in this series was frustrating and I really was not sure I was going to stick with it. Only the reviews on Amazon convinced me to continue reading. If you can get past the slow and bumpy start, the story is fast-paced and fun.

The narrator does a good job on most voices, but she has some issues pronouncing basic words which can be a distraction.

Just can't get past the Narrator

The story seems to be a good one, but the narrator makes it sound like it's a lot of bad acting. I just can't get past it. I will read the book without the voiceover.

I’m glad I pushed through. Adult. Romance. Magic. Good plot. Series Long enough to sink your teeth into.

I was in a book hole. And tbh, after a while you can only read so many YA novels before you begin to crave someone appropriately aged taking on the universe. Like let’s please let the 16-18 year olds just be kids! But I digress. Anyways. One reviewer urged powering through the first books to get to the others. And I’m glad I did. Here’s a non spoiler synopsis of the series. You have to power through the first book which is awful but then it’s amazing; adult aged people; smutty trash; and lots of magic and for once a not too shabby gut wrenching plot. Only catch, if you listen to it, the narrator pronounces words wrong 😑 and inconsistently. And the author does this weird and inconsistent fourth wall breaking retrospective shit that you just have to tune out and inexplicably she only does books 2-4. By book four the plot and characters have wrapped around your heart. You just have to brace through some intelligent character development along the way. I am thrilled with this genre. Adult romance. Although this author does seam afraid of anatomical language ... Adult aged people. Magic. I wish the writing would be a smudge less cheesy. But by the fourth book I could weep with these characters and scream at no one to stop their shitty choices. Clearly I was invested. I also like the that the series is long enough to sink your teeth into but not too long that you think you’re just being taken for your money.

Good story poor narration

The story was great but the narration was overly dramatic and distracting. I struggled to listen past 2 chapters and finally decided to read the book instead of continuing to listen.

Fun, Passionate, and Very Entertaining!

This was great! Loved the opening for Shadow's Kiss! The story jumps right into it, and I love an amnesia scenario. There's lots that Violet doesn't know, and people aren't exactly being clear with the answers. Loved reading as more about Violet comes to light. There's some action scenes that are entertaining, and the story is engrossing. Plus, I love the world the book takes place in! Shadow's Kiss deals with angels in a way; the characters are called Radiants and Shadows, but the Radiants aren't quite angelic and there's more to the Shadows than expected.

I listened to the audio version of Shadow's Kiss, and the narrator does a good job. I think her voice fits Violet's character.

I enjoyed the romance, but it felt more magical induced rather than true soul mates; so far anyway. There is definitely passion though. Elijah is very alpha and I liked him, but he really needs to step up his game with Violet. I'm really interested to learn more about the Prince of Shadows. There's definitely a lot more to that story.

I liked Violet. She's tough and stands up for herself, but she can be a little rude sometimes and doesn't exactly make the best decisions.

The only part I didn't like was some scenarios with a group of women that are like femme fatales. It felt a bit too raunchy to me, and I don't really care for characters like that. It wasn't enough of an issue for me though, the story is still lots of fun and super entertaining! Looking forward to the rest of the series! It looks like the next book is a prequel type scenario, so it'll be interesting to see exactly what happened in the past.

Unique world building, fun characters, and some intense passion! Good stuff!

Curiosity continues

I surprisingly liked this book, but was sad that it left you hanging at the end. I guess so you will purchase the next one.

Man these reviews are harsh lol

I actually really liked the beginning of this book. I enjoy not knowing EVERYTHING about a situation which is happening in a book. I sometimes find it aggravating to know what’s going on when the main character does not. The author puts us in the unknown and we go through it with with the lead. I also like the hate bond between the two main leads. I’ve always wanted to know what would happen if “mates” were more at war with themselves/bodies/and each other. A nice reprieve from the mature mate genre.

This Narrator…

Im sorry, just trying to listen to this narrator and her attempts at British and Cockney accents is just draining in itself. Guys come on. Bad
