About this listen

From Eliza Clark, the author of the brilliant novels Boy Parts and Penance and one of Granta’s Best Young British Novelists, comes a fierce, visionary and darkly comic story collection.

A woman welcomes a parasite into her body.

A teenager longs for perfect skin.

A scientist tends to fragile alien flora.

A young man takes the night into his own hands.

Unsettling, revelatory, and laced with her signature dark humor, Eliza Clark’s debut short story collection plumbs the depths of that most basic human feeling: hunger.

Loved it.

A great collection of short stories. Taboo but sometimes relatable subjects. Some weird but all interesting

Amazing Sci-fi Horror and Other Creepy Tales

Loved all the narrators and what they brought to the stories. This is one of my favorite short story collections I’ve ever read. If you liked Her Body and Other Parties and you like short stories with social commentary and general creepiness and body horror, you’ll love this!

Phenomenal Collection of Short Stories; Vivid, Weird, Hungry Worlds

I'm not the biggest fan of short stories, but thought I'd give this a try. Clark truly knocks it out of the park. Her voice is so fresh and current, so biting and hilarious. amazing voice acting!

Eliza Clark’s enchanting narrations.

Pros.
Eliza Clark is a fantastic narrator. After listening to Boy Parts four times, I was drawn in by her narration skills. I would have liked Eliza to do all the narrations, but this audible contained other good narrators. I enjoyed both the story and narration.

“Build a Body Like Mine.” Overall 5/5. Good short story. Fun ending.

I didn’t think much of the story “She’s Always Hungry,” but the performance of the narrators was good. Overall 3/5.

I really enjoyed the episode “Shake Well.” Eliza’s performance was outstanding as usual. That chapter could be stretched into an entire book for young adults. Overall 5/5.

Company Man is a good story. Narrated by Eliza, it hit all the right chords. Overall 5/5.

The Shadow over Little Chitaly. A very creative chapter. Anyone can identify with this chapter, overall 4/5,

Overall I do recommend this book for Eliza Clark fans. It is a nice collection of short stories. A fun listen overall.

About me. Not her target audience, I will be 80 in May, and married 57 years. As a retired person, I order a lot of Audible books, with well over a hundred reviews. Eliza Clark’s books and narration hits the sweet spot. Unconventional and well narrated.

Lttly Chitaly

There's a story in here that is told via yelp reviews. Each reviewer has a different experience, some extremely weird and others normal and straightforward. A few seemed to be continuations of a previous order. This whole book felt like that, and I wonder if the author included the Little Chitaly story to illustrate that in a tongue in cheek sort of way. Many of these seemed like they were stories the author wrote as pieces of a larger story, but the ideas were abandoned and she said "ehh, wth, let's just throw it all together and call it an anthology."
