Shifters: Underground Encounters boxset 2

Shifters: Underground Encounters, Box Set 2:
(Ignite & Burn)

Two amazing stories with wonderful male and female narration.

Ignite
I loved this story. Who would think of an IT geek as a hot rocker dude? She's a bit of a geek herself and not a club-hopping-hottie. The hottie fits. She's a loner because she has a big secret. One she can't share. She doesn't even understand it herself. Something about Lily draws Nico. He's been known to take advantage of his rockstar chick magnetism, yet it has lost its shine until Lily. Just his luck, she's not interested. Or is she?

While she gave him a cold shoulder, she can't stop thinking about him. Then they meet again. This time ... it's cute so you need to read about it. Let's just say that cold shoulder is gonna heat up just fine.

Lily agrees to a sex-only meeting only with no future ahead for them. He'll take what he can get, hoping to change her mind. Will he?

Both characters are interesting and not your typical PNR relationship. I thoroughly enjoyed their romp, was just as frustrated as Nico with her secret. Vamp has another great couple to bring together.

You'll need a fan and iced drink for this one. A strong recommendation from me. The narration was a pleasure to listen to, accents, and both male and female narrators.

Burn
Layla made it. She got away. She was safe right out in the open. He wouldn't be looking for a Wild haired Rocker. Just maybe she'd make it out with her life—right---if you called being a vampire a life. She didn't count on Devon, a shapeshifter, a bounty hunter and she was the bounty. He hated vamps, she hated d#@% dogs. Right? Didn't they? Why did they have these feelings when they were together?

She was pretty good at self-defense. He was great at his job. Her life or a bundle of money was at stake.

The characters are interesting and both are hot. Their chemistry baffles them. How will they deal with their prejudices and their desires? You won't guess the outcome and you'll wonder about the inner being of them both. There are other characters involved whose feelings will intrude on the relationships.

Plenty of steam to keep turning the pages and a great story.

Heat/Steam: 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Story/Plot: 📕📗📘📙📔
World building: 🌎🌍🌏🌎🌏
Character development: 🤐🤫🫣☺️🥰
Narrator(s): 🎙🎙🎙🎙
Narration Type: Dual Narration

The heroine: Ligeia (a.k.a. Lily) - She is a cat shifter and she decided to go out with her friend Ally to do some dancing to celebrate the fact that all her hard work and effort is finally paying of in her professional life. They go to a club called Vamps without checking the schedule and there is a band instead of a D.J. so she is a bit depressed about that, but she sits down at the bar to get a drink and loosens up a bit. She finds that she is enjoying the songs.

The Hero: Nico (a.k.a. Leggy Bones) - His day job is working in software development as a computer programmer and at night he is the lead singer in a very popular band in the underground music scene called Velvet Cocks (a.k.a. VC’s). The logo is a rooster in a velvet smoking jacket. They are currently promoting their second album.

The Story: The story takes place on the night that the previous book, Fire ends. The VC’s are playing at Vamps and Tristan has a song request for Maya. Lily starts to wish she had a guy that would love her like that, but knows that she can’t trust any man with her secret. She finds that she loves the voice and power of the singer and when she sees him, she is entranced.

This was told in dual points of view via dual narration and was narrated by Amber Lee Conners and Kieran Flitton. I really like Amber Lee Conners’ voice, it is light and feminine and age appropriate for a twenty-something young professional. Kieran Flitton is not one of my favorite male narrators, but he does a good job. I just tend to like a deeper voice for a male narrator, but that is just personal preference.

I liked the fact that the band is a bit rock, a bit punk and a bit alternative and their songs are as cheeky as their stage names and band name. Lily turns into a mountain lion once a month and doesn’t seem to know anyone else like herself, so she thinks she is too strange to let anyone know about the real her aside from her mother. There are some great supporting characters and a good paranormal storyline.

Narration Type: Dual Narration

The heroine: Layla (a.k.a. Angelica) - when she is framed for stealing from a master vampire named Stefano, Layla runs from London. She ends up in Massachusetts and hides under an assumed name and starts working as a singer for an 80’s heavy metal cover band called Blood Lust Diamond that plays at Vamps, an underground nightclub near Boston.

The Hero: Devon - vampires and shapeshifters don’t mix. Devon is a shapeshifter that hates all vampires. He is also the best supernatural bounty hunter in the business and is always up to bring in vampires that break the law, though determining their guilt or innocence is not his job. He is currently after a vampire thief named Layla who ran away from London.

The Story: Devon is confused when he first sees Layla, not only is she a vampire, and his bounty but he is attracted to her like nobody’s business. When he captures her, sparks fly. The chemistry between these two was explosive and they couldn’t keep their hands off each other. Though they were still enemies and Devon still planned to bring Layla to Stefano.

The story and the steamy scenes in this series have gotten better as the series goes on. This one was the best so far. I love the fact that there are multiple different kinds of supernaturals in this series. It keeps things interesting, and Devon can shift into any animal, so that is cool. Add into that the rock star romance trope and what more could you want?

This was told in dual points of view via dual narration and was narrated by Amber Lee Conners and Kieran Flitton. I love Amber Lee Connors voice, it is soft and emotive and she speaks in a perfect tempo. Her male voice is also very good and at times I like her male voice even better than Kieran Flitton’s voice. Though I do love dual or duet narration much more than solo.

Great book

The first story is about Lily and Nico. She is a shifter keep it secret and Nico is nerdy rock star. Lily is a loner till she meets Nico. The chemistry between is out of this world. Will Lily and Nico be able to over come her secret?
The second story is vampire vs shifter romance. Devon is a shifter bounty hunter. Layla is a Vampire who has reinvented herself as an 80,s rock star. Devon hates vampires. His new target is Layla. She is very distracting. Will Devon and Layla be able to work it out. The narration was good. I like that there were two narrators one male one female.
