Publisher's summary

From the New York Times best-selling author of Windwitch, a prequel novella set in the Witchlands setting up the forthcoming hotly anticipated Bloodwitch.

Set a year before Truthwitch, Sightwitch follows Ryber Fortiza, the last Sightwitch Sister as she treks deep underground to rescue her missing best friend. While there, she encounters a young Nubrevnan named Kullen Ikray, who has no memory of who he is or how he wound up inside the mountain. As the two journey every deeper in search of answers, and as they brave one close call after another, a tentative friendship forms between them - one that might one day grow into something more.

Sightwitch is told through Ryber's journal entries and her sketches, as well as through supplementary materials (such as other journals, pieces of songs, clippings from history books, flashbacks, etc.). Though meant as a companion novella, this story serves as a set up to Bloodwitch as well as an expansion of the world.

Cast of narrators:

  • Ryber, read by Bahni Turpin
  • Tanzi, read by Lauren Fortgang
  • Eridysi, read by Saskia Maarleveld
  • Kullen, read by Macleod Andrews
  • Bloodwitch sneak peek, read by Cassandra Campbell

Story is good but it is NOT a sequel!

Readers beware, if you listened to Truthwitch and expected Sightwitch to answer your questions you had after the first book's cliffhanger you will be disappointed. Sightwitch is NOT a sequel to Truthwitch...I don't know if it actually qualifies as a prequel either but it DOES showcase some instances that happen well before the events of Truthwitch! This is not to say you should skip this installment of events in the Witchlands or that I disliked the book. I actually got into the story of Sightwitch must faster than Truthwitch and overall liked this book better. I didn't LOVE the author's use of flashbacks at the beginning just because it took me a while to realize what the time frame of the book was written in. I did eventually get used to the writing style, but it was a distraction at the beginning. I also preferred Cassandra Campbell's narration of Truthwitch compared to the cast recording of this book, especially because some of the accents or dialects Campbell established for some characters differed in Sightwitch. In fact the vocal performances were probably the part of this book I liked the least. That being said, I am looking forward to Dennard's next installment in the Witchlands books, and would still recommend this title, just be prepared to not get all the answers you may be looking for after Truthwitch.

amazing

Sightwitch gives such a compelling and complex look into the witchland world. this book was perhaps my favorite of the series only because it provided such rich context. Susan Dennard is truly a fantastic author. I long to get lost in the worlds of her creation again soon.

Right wish is not born but made!

I really enjoyed how Susan Dennard, the author, tied all the characters in all of books in the series together. From a different angle and character. You don't find out till you listen to the narrator get deeper into the story. Then she/he will mention a name of a character who was in another book. That will be the Ah Ha moment. Great series!

Talented cast!

The voice actors for this production made a book I couldn't get into far easier to comprehend! Simply wonderful!
