Publisher's summary
Murder. Scandal. Politics. And one billionaire heiress so dangerous in so many ways. An explosive Lucas Davenport thriller from number one New York Times best-selling author John Sandford.
All hell has broken loose in the capital. An influential state senator has been caught with something very, very nasty on his office computer. The governor can’t believe it - the senator’s way too smart for that, even if he is from the other party. Something’s not right. As Davenport investigates, the trail leads to a political fixer who has disappeared, then - troublingly - to the Minneapolis police department itself, and most unsettling of all, to a woman who could give Machiavelli lessons in manipulation. She has very definite ideas about the way the world should work - along with the money, ruthlessness, and cold-blooded will to make it happen.

Story
Thomas Kilbride is a map-obsessed schizophrenic so affected that he rarely leaves the self-imposed bastion of his bedroom. But with a computer program called Whirl360.com, he travels the world while never so much as stepping out the door. He pores over and memorizes the streets of the world. He examines every address, as well as the people who are frozen in time on his computer screen. Then he sees something that anyone else might have stumbled upon - but has not - in a street view of downtown New York City: an image in a window. An image that looks like a woman being murdered.

Story
It looked for all the world like a terrible, tragic accident. Susanna Morgan had gotten up in the middle of the night, tripped, fallen, and broken her neck. Yet when detective Justin Westwood inspects the victim's apartment, he can't help noticing that the details don't quite add up. The glass on the bedside table is knocked over but there are no cuts on her body. The scrape on her knee looks suspiciously fresh. And then a terrified witness comes forward, confirming his worst fear.

One of the best narrators in audiobooks. I like Eric Congor, from the Virgil Flowers series, too.

Love the author, can barely tolerate the reader -
I love the Davenport series by Sandford, but I am always puzzled that he continues to use a C grade (at best) reader when there are A+ performing artist is beyond me. But once you shake the bad reading, it is definitely worth a listen.

One of my favorite series.
While this wasn't one of my favorite books in the series, I still enjoyed the book. Really enjoyed that Kidd was included in the book (from his Kidd and LuEllen series), probably my favorite part. Lucas is aging well, and like always, it was a pleasure to read one of Sandford's books.

JOHN SANDFORD DOESN'T DISAPPOINT, AGAIN.
A very good book, per usual. I am a huge John Sandford fan, and every six months I literally can't wait until his next book arrives. The Prey Series is my favorite Sandford series. I used to read them all, now I listen to them. I expect so much from them, I want them to live up to my expectations, and 'Silken Prey' does exactly that. It has a very good story, with well developed characters, one in particular, that everyone can relate to and unilaterally despise. Along with the regular cast of characters, which do not disappoint, EVER. I really wish I was just now, discovering the 'Prey Series' and could listen to them, just now, for the very first time. If that is you, DO IT!!! NOW!!! Don't wait, start now.
This book.is classic, Sandford, with classic and typical Sandford elements. Suspense, mystery, brutality, a little gore, some nasty people, some great people, some surprises, the usual charm and humor, and most important of all, a story line that is really, second to none.
So if you are on the fence whether or not to buy and listen or you are just looking for a good book lo listen to, just buy it. You can thank me after you listen. Or, a better idea, go get 'Rules of Prey', and listen to it, then go and get 'Shadow Prey', and listen to it, then go get, 'Eyes of Prey', listen to it, and then go and get 'Silent Prey'.......And like I said before, you can thank me after. And, Your Welcome. : -)

Another great Lucas Davenport book.
I am a true fan of the Lucas Davenport series. Lucas has aged and developed into a great character. I really enjoy the funny and sometimes snarky conversations between Lucas and the rest of his cronies (Del, Shrake, etc.) They frequently make me laugh out loud. I also like Lucas the family man. This book has the most interesting villian - a female politician. There are great twists and turns into this book.
I always look forward to these books........and I like that f******g Flowers too!
