Great Narrator

The narrator is, as always, exceptional. The story is captivating. I have loved Dick, and now Felix, since high school.

Good read

I enjoyed it as usual. Hoping the son follows the father's footsteps and produces good books.

A very scary story.

I was very drawn to the characters in the story. Especially the main one. His job in the law and his dream of riding horses. I understand his dream. At one time I dreamed of riding them. I also dreamed of being a great artist. Instead, I became a mother of two boys, by two different fathers. But, the boys were a wonderful treasure. So his dreams and mine, were answered in different ways.

Narrator a bit off

This was an entertaining Dick Francis tale as usual, but the main character who is supposed to be in his 30s sounds more 50-ish+ and was annoying throughout. The narrator provides an excellent performance, just not for this character. In some scenes the protagonist makes some incredibly dumb choices that don't ring true for the savvy and intuitive lawyer he's portrayed in other parts of the book. I will definitely listen to more Dick Francis, but will be more selective.

Entertaining from start to finish

I read all of Dick Francis' books years ago and am delighted to find that they are as good as I remember them to be. I really enjoyed Silks - great characters and a great mix of horse racing and law.

Felix Getting Better.

If you could sum up Silks in three words, what would they be?

I have read every Dick Francis book and enjoyed 95 percent of them. Felix's efforts have been decent attempts at emulating his father's style. But they were just not the same. This one really hit the mark of what I have come to appreciate about the Francis novels. I have been to Cheltenham several times so I love when the festival meeting is part of the story. As with typical Dick Francis books this had a teaching moment on other subject matter (British law in this case) and I learned some things I didn't know. Very good twisting plot included made this a pleasure to read.
