About this listen

Scott Pomfret serves as a lector at St. Anthony Shrine in Boston. He also writes gay porn. His boyfriend is a flaming atheist, and his boyfriend’s Protestant grandmother counts Catholicism as a sin worse than sodomy. From Pentecost to Pride, from the books of the Bible to the articles of The Advocate, Pomfret's wry, hysterically funny memoir maps with matchless humor the full spectrum of the gay Catholic experience.

Listen in as Pomfret learns a thing or two about love and compassion from Father Bear Daddy, a priest with a hot Gay.com profile, and the Three Hail Marys, and join him as he sets out on a brave quest to convince his archnemesis, Cardinal OMalley, to invite him to serve at a weekly mass.

Editorial reviews

Scott O’Neill brings flashes of flair to his otherwise understated delivery in his performance of Scott Pomfret’s memoir Since My Last Confession.

Pomfret’s story about being Catholic and gay is full of the anger, love, and humor. A lector at a Boston area church, Pomfret also writes gay porn and has an atheist boyfriend. The satirical story follows Pomfret as he fights for same-sex marriage and encounters characters like Father Bear Daddy and Mr. Sodomy (an anti-gay protestor).

Narrator O’Neill does justice to this varied cast with a range of inflections in this poignant story of faith and love.

Growing Older Catholic

Listening to this book was like reliving my life in university when I belonged to Dignity sponsored by our Neumann Center. I was introduced to the gay and lesbian lifestyle by my friend Michael whose family disowned him. We spent four years making new friends. RIP Michael.

Read it but :-(

I read this book myself as a gay catholic deacons son. Loved it wanted to listen to it again. Do Not buy this if you want to listen to a robot tell you how hard your life has been!
