Publisher's summary

At Slough House - MI5’s London depository for demoted spies - Brexit has taken a toll. The “slow horses” have been pushed further into the cold, Slough House has been erased from official records, and its members are dying in unusual circumstances, at an unusual clip. No wonder Jackson Lamb’s crew is feeling paranoid. But are they actually targets?

With a new populist movement taking hold of London’s streets and the old order ensuring that everything’s for sale to the highest bidder, the world’s a dangerous place for those deemed surplus. Jackson Lamb and the slow horses are in a fight for their lives as they navigate dizzying layers of lies, power, and death.

In his best and most ambitious novel yet, Mick Herron, “the le Carré of the future” (BBC), offers an unsparing look at the corrupt web of media, global finance, spycraft, and politics that power our modern world.

Twists and more twists. But you do see it coming and now you have to read the next book.

Possibly best yet in Slow Horses series

Gripping from start to finish. As in his previous books there are lots of unexpected twists, turns, ... And an ending you won't see coming. Author does a great job of linking events in the book to people and events in real life. Great wit, suspense, and writing. Highly recommend. Narrator is outstanding.

Wickedly humorous

Mich Herron has such a way with words. I have to listen very closely and the writing is so pleasurable. Gerard Doyle is a masterful narrator. The story was fascinating.

Great series-narration leaves a lot to be desired

This series was a great find and interesting; however the reader leaves a lot to be desired. I wish they had the John le Carre narrator for these also. Will stick to the books from here on out.

Excellence is all!!!

Slow build up concludes with an ending that will make the next chapter and the next chapters something to look forward too!

Lady DI’s development took center stage. Her character is the one to whom the next chapter will continue to shine.

Mick Herron is slowly becoming my favorite mystery writer.

Always so wonderful

I am completely hooked on the Slough house gang. Whenever Herron adds to the oeuvre, I am so happy. A listener cannot start with this one of course. A new Slough House book is like a family reunion where everyone catches up with what's been happening. I love this series!
