Resumen del Editor

Hattie Evans, a retired schoolteacher, isn’t one to fuss. When her husband drops dead of a heart attack, she does her best to move on without too many tears. After all, Jerome was 70 years old. But an anonymous note, asserting that her husband was murdered, shakes her resolve, and she seeks out help. The police are useless, save that they send her to Fred Carver - a former Orlando cop who turned PI when a bullet shattered his left knee. Her case takes Carver into the depths of Solartown: an old-age mecca where 70 is the new 40, golf carts are the only way to get around, and death from natural causes is nowhere to be found.

Main character becoming tiresome

Love Joe Barrett of course, but the male lead Carver, is out of touch and often just stupid. He evidently has not learned to watch his six and is constantly getting his rear end handed to him because he wasn’t cognizant of his surrounding. He likes to characterize any female over 50 as damn near infirm. Best he can do is say someone is “surprisingly trim” for her age. Dude give me a break, I’m 62 and in week, I’m competing in a national level bike race along with a LOT of women over the age of 50.
Carver also says women have or should have total control over their own reproductive systems and then turns around and freaking whines because he should have a say and CLEARLY thinks his gf should do what he wants. Then he says she is being “hormonal” when she is a tad testy because she is weighing the enormous pros and cons of having a child with a guy who may or may not be interested in being a father.

If all that isn’t off-putting enough, some of the “also-starring” male characters are so ridiculously loathsome that they become caricatures.
