Publisher's summary

Star Dreadnought Bismarck is the Vrokan Empire’s latest weapon, a monstrous warship of a size and power never seen before that could turn the tide of the war.

It is the sixth year of the Void Wars, and only the allies of the Commonwealth remain standing against the unstoppable tide of the brutal Vrokan Empire, still unwilling to yield after numerous setbacks. When a fortuitous reconnaissance flight spots the behemoth leaving port, they know they must act before it can break out into open space, and begin its mission. Stopping the Bismarck will not be easy. At three kilometers long, armed with powerful guns, and protected by unbreachable armor, it is a ship built for one purpose: the destruction of anything it meets.

Knowing the danger, the Commonwealth musters every vessel they can find to contain the new threat. Untested battleships, lightly armored carriers, and numerous escort ships are hastily mobilized to hunt down and engage the Star Dreadnought before it can destroy the convoys keeping the Commonwealth from starvation and defeat. Leading the charge is the Mighty Hood, the aging but powerful battlecruiser, flagship of the fleet, and pride of the Commonwealth Navy.

The Void Wars is a brand-new military-sci-fi series by acclaimed science-fiction author Michael G. Thomas. For the first time, experience the epic battles and heroes of World War II set in a fictional futuristic universe, where fleets of kilometer-long starships fight to the death, and entire worlds are engulfed in the flames of war.

I love the theater of this book

Except for listening to American Gods, I've only listened to audiobooks that have a single narrator. This book has sound effects and I think there are multiple actors. The description of books is very detailed and the battles are compelling. I binged this one and am looking forward to listening to the rest of the series.

Good read

This book dove into the action right away and kept it up through the entire book. Sound effects were a bit much at times but overall an excellent book.

This was a new perspective

This one has sound effects screeching of metal, explosions, etc. I like how in depth the reader gets

As always, Awesome!

I totally enjoyed Nigel's production of this book! I had a grin as I heard parallels of of this battle resembled a battle of old time ship battles!

Enthralling

This was not quite what I expected and I thoroughly loved it. For this genre it's quite the needed breath of fresh air. If you wish to escape cookie cutter books and delve into something with substance and character with flavor of naval battles in space, Sound effects and more I'd give this one a try.

Great Science Fiction War Story

This was my first experience with Michael G. Thomas' work, and it was fascinating. This first book in "The Void Wars" series described the encounters of the allies of the Commonwealth with the Star Dreadnought Bismarck, a mammoth warship of the Vrokan Empire. Once the audiobook started, I had to listen until the end as I was captivated by the story. I enjoyed the tale. I liked the characters. There was plenty of action and the story was fast paced. I'm looking forward to the next book in the series. Nigel Peever's narration was great, and his performance enhanced the story's entertainment. I was given a free copy of the audiobook, and I have voluntarily posted this review.

Fast

let me just say that this started off Revenge of the Sith fast and never let off the gas. Nigel Peever narrated this and it was amazing hearing the narration. Usually a book that starts this fast I find hard to follow but the character development was centered on the battles and situations that etched each character strongly in memory.

Great listen, strong narration and a great way to get away from it all. Highly Recommend

Something new for me, and I loved it!

This is my favorite genre, so it is no big surprise that I liked the story, but what most got my attention was the ... should I call them special effects? Coupled with brilliant narration, at times it was like watching a movie!

Hold onto your seats - I couldn't put it down.

This book is definitely not in my normal genre of reading. However, the action is fast and well written along with its setting in a new realm of space. It hooked me right away and kept me engaged in the book where I had a hard time setting it aside. The main characters are well developed along with the supporting ones that make this book an overall well thought out book. Looking forward to the next book in this series.
